@puddingviz@alv9n This happened the first time playing it and left me confused for a moment. After doing the math, it turns out there's a 0.8% chance of this occurring -- If only I had that kind of luck in real life! Anyway, superb interactive!
There are 136 footballers in the FIFA World Cup representing countries other than the ones in which they were born. We take a look at the dynamics of immigration in the sport.
Loved working on this piece with @onu_kwue

@JanWillemTulp@Jasonforrestftw@nigelblue “One million,” doesn’t exist and it’s just ChatGPT guessing that a famous data visualization is one million points on a scatterplot. ChatGPT often invents silly ideas like that and presents it as fact. Sorry if I confused you.
@Jasonforrestftw@attilabatorfy@infowetrust@datavisFriendly@rsimmon Yes, most definitely. However, when it comes to these specific type of pictograms where the size represents value while disregarding the area -- I blame the invention of these exclusively on Western civilization in general, and on Mulhall in particular, until proven otherwise 😂
@Jasonforrestftw@attilabatorfy@infowetrust@datavisFriendly@rsimmon I believe the first one to use the pictograms of various sizes to represent value was Michael Mulhall around 1880s. But the origin of this nice matchbook design is probably just a the result of IZOSTAT choosing to ignore Neurath's instructions😅
@MaryKnowsBees Relevant today as to it was 9 months ago when it was written! Nothing changed and the topic never became a part of public discussion. Shameful.
@kpeovic Statistika u Hrvatskoj je nastala prije 150 godina upravo kao otpor tome da jedini smisao sluzbene statistike bude uskladjivanje i provodjenje naputaka iz Beca!
@EU_Eurostat Here is a quick timeline chart I did using the Eurostat data from the link, with top ranked countries in 2018 emphasized with color and label. Notice how those with the "highest collection rate" have really strange oscillations? 🤔
Also, 🇭🇷 at 116.2% waste collection in 2017 😁
@EU_Eurostat This is misleading. Croatia is 1st because the data about products put on the market omits a large number of portable accumulators, which in turn skews the calculation. The Croatian agency in charge of collecting this data explains it well in their report: https://t.co/a4UxtENRcT
