Pakistan has imported its second shipment of LNG from the Persian Gulf in a week, showing how Islamabad is leveraging its newfound geopolitical influence to ease an energy crunch https://t.co/4HhSjecBdo
LNG terminals are infrastructure, not suppliers of gas.
The total cost of capacity from both terminals is about 2% of the LNG procured through them over their 15-year terms.
Through fuel substitution, Pakistan saves multiples of what it pays in capacity charges and it earns multiples more in economic activity.
Pakistan has secured attractive term contracts with LNG suppliers on the back of these terminals.
Both terminals are available and working. Policy, planning, and the system may have failed. Infrastructure has not.
The facts are undeniable.

#Pakistan needs four LNG cargoes each weighing 100 million cubic feet per day to ease prevailing power outages, a government official said. https://t.co/wI8E5Q7V0z
This is the issue: Pakistan depends on LNG for a big chunk of its power generation. And now it’s basically gone
The country hasn’t received a single LNG shipment since early March. Qatar supplied 99% of Pakistan’s LNG last year, and they’ve been offline for over a month

Coming soon-the gas cliff edge: Pakistan is in a particularly vulnerable situation….Both of the country’s LNG import terminals have reduced their operations to 1/6 of normal levels and will have stopped dispatching gas completely by the end of the month.” https://t.co/KAGjayEZIA

Big boost for Pakistan’s energy sector ⚡
#SIFC has approved a revenue-sharing deal between Sui Southern Gas (#SSGC) and Jamshoro JV (#JJVL), unlocking a key LPG-NGL extraction plant.
Why does it matter?
✅ The LPG-NGL plant will start operations by July 31
✅ SSGC gets 66% of revenue and 25% of LPG at official prices
✅ Estimated income: Rs 2 billion per year 💰
This move brings long-stalled projects back to life with clear rules.
SSGC also took this through official channels to ensure transparency and avoid future legal hurdles.
