I've said this before: the majority of people who use AI (and I'm not talking about programmers or people who actually have to constantly run agentic tasks at desk or other truly token-hungry stuff like that, but just the typical person using ChatGPT as a replacement for Google) could simply download an open-source model, run it locally on their home PC, and get a perfectly acceptable result. Altman is mortally afraid of the average AI user figuring that out.
I haven’t weighed in much on this, but lying about your sex to people is deceptive and wrong and that’s always been the case
Even in MMOs, deceivers were always called out, exposed and ridiculed for exactly that. It was usually also always done for some sort of gain, like attention, fame or money
It creates false pretenses and is deeply dishonest. No amount of internet rules or kayfabe changes that when people are led to believe something false about who they’re interacting with
It’s done to fool people for personal gain. That’s wrong in virtually every scenario
@c_tviz when will morons learn that censorious bureaucrats aren't principled moralists like "you" are ( you're not either btw ). They censor things because they have the power to do so, and you gave it to them thinking that made you a better person.
To sum up today's news:
- Reddit stock is down because of AI answers
- Google stock is down because of AI answers
- Your web traffic is down because of AI answers
Happy to see that worked out well for all parties involved
Former Valve dev Chet Faliszek has fired back at Epic CEO Tim Sweeney over his latest attacks on Steam.
Sweeney claims Valve is holding PC gaming back and criticizes Steam’s AI disclosure rules.
Faliszek argues that these disclosures help players make informed decisions:
“You’re just treating players like they’re stupid.”
He also points out that Epic’s own Fab marketplace uses AI disclosures.
And his response to Sweeney? Put Alan Wake 2 on Steam if you’re really that pro-consumer.

Says CEO of company that has been unable to make a good alternative after years of trying, and vibe coded an even worse alternative.
