The Müller ice core is now complete at 613m, making this the longest ice core in Canada.
From a colleague:
We came to Müller, brave and bold,
To drill through secrets deep and cold.
With cutters sharp and caffeine high,
We punched a straight hole, from bedrock to sky.
@WPGMurat Still shocked that Maclean, the voice of reason in many of these instances and speaking often “as a ref”, was okay with it. Dangerous precedent to set.
Chance of a polar bear in camp has gone down drastically after all the yelling with a last second goal and double OT winner! From the top of the word! #GoJetsGo@NHLJets what a game!
Pretty awesome! For the record, 10 of us are camping through -30°s on the Muller ice cap at 80°N attempting to recover a 600m ice core, which would be the longest in canadian history & provide a 10,000yr climate record! And yes we can stream the @NHLJets!
What a win by the @NHLJets. Getting the complete breakdown from Kenny and Renny (@snseanreynolds & @WiebesWorld) during my Sunday morning walk on our skiway on the Müller ice cap at 80°N. #GoJetsGo
@ceos_um It's a mix of excitement and nerves working on just 45 cm of sea ice about 20 km from the station with high winds during polar night. Months of preparation and a strict safety plan, which included loads of thickness measurements along the route, meant everything went well.
Back from two weeks at Eureka where we deployed equipment on the newly formed sea ice (~45 cm). No sun, but we lucked out with a clear full moon that made for some pretty incredible views. Fingers crossed everything works until we return in May! @ceos_um
New paper out with updated estimates of sea ice volume export through Davis Strait & the resultant ice mass balance of Baffin Bay. Key takeaway, export was previously underestimated. w/ @jclandy @ECCC_CIS and others. @ceos_um
