@FootballCliches hi Adam, I think there is a mistake in today’s “Ever” question! I know how passionately you feel about naming players from World Cup squads so thought you should know
@FootballCliches@D_C_W@NickMiller79 Can you have unfinished business at a club you’ve played for for the last seven years? It makes sense as he clearly does have unfinished business but the phrase is almost always used to refer to a player/manager returning to a league or club 🤔
@FootballCliches@CDEccleshare@NickMiller79 Also further to previous chats on “What’s eating Erling Haaland” etc this seems like another ridiculously outdated and relatively obscure cultural reference that gets a surprising amount of usage à la Keystone Cops
@FootballCliches@CDEccleshare@NickMiller79 Are we at the “What’s eating…” stage for Arsenal yet? And can something be eating a team? Feels like it should always be applied to an individual
@FootballCliches@CDEccleshare@D_C_W Saw this on BBC Sport and it occurred to me how “restores lead” is such an efficient way of explaining the score AND the story of the game. I knew immediately West Ham had scored first, Villa had equalised and then Bowen made it 2-1 all from those two words.
