@RutgersAltRoute A4: any time I hear HIB language, it’s an opportunity to teach kids to alter their language. Especially if those words are directed at themselves (I sound awful, I suck, etc). I can then turn the language around and teach them supportive words instead. #teacherEd #safeschools

@RutgersAltRoute A3: I regularly text and email parents using the same supportive language I use in my classroom, so when the parents talk to their kids, they hear that same language again from a different source.

@RutgersAltRoute A4: for my music students, I consistently message that “repetition fosters skill.” When they learn a new thing, I encourage them to “put in their reps” to make that new thing easier. This wording is intended to show that they CAN do it, even if it’s difficult right now.
