🎉🚂 Our big secret, (or three) is out!
BNSF is proud to unveil today three specially painted locomotives honoring America’s 250th birthday, units 250, 1776 and 2026, wrapped in red, white, and blue and carrying the spirit of “We the People.”
These locomotives pay tribute to our nation’s story and the railroaders who’ve helped shape it for nearly two centuries.
They’ll be traveling our 32,500‑mile network, celebrating the communities we serve, our rich history and the people who keep America moving.
Here’s to 250 years of freedom, connection and the railroad that helped build it.

@markmartin Richard Petty's win in the 1979 Daytona 500 is when I became a fan of both him and Nascar. He will always be my favorite, and never forgotten.
@lippyent There were over 200,000 2nd gen Chargers made, so that was a drop in the bucket. If you factor in the show itself making the 2nd gen Charger a star, thousands were probably saved alone by fans of the show who fell in love with the Charger.
On this day in 1981, the U.S. Army unveils the EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle. Modelled on the 1976 GMC 26 Palm Beach line of motorhomes, it's fully equipped with machine guns, flame throwers and rocket launchers, along with a state of the art communications and navigation suite.
Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014—the world's largest operating steam locomotive—thundering by in full glory. This beast is a 4-8-8-4 articulated giant, over 130 feet long, weighing 1.2 million pounds, built in 1941 to conquer mountain grades hauling massive wartime freight. The only one of eight surviving Big Boys still running, restored and ripping it up with that classic steam roar and smoke plume. How cool is this?! Absolute engineering legend in motion. 🚂💨
