My office has been invaded! It's been an intense few days for Dave as he's worked from home, full of data entry into various systems that help track when maintenance is required for the three planes in West Africa. Fortunately there's space for both of us (just about 😅).

Fresh fruits and vegetables can be hard to come by here in Liberia, and expensive when you do find them. It makes us very thankful for treats like this - fresh mango from the tree of a neighbour. Delicious!

Nice cool evening at only 28 degrees in the house after a rainy day (still 83% humidity though of course!), so thought I'd try a luke warm bath. Couldn't find any bubble bath anywhere though, so I'm trying a homemade concoction of soap, coconut oil and water!

The joy of trying to make ice cream in a hot country. The machine has been struggling to get the mixture to set lately, so we thought we'd try and give it a bit of extra cooling power. 🤣 Anything for ice cream!

The frogs were in fine voice today as I walked to the market to exchange some US dollars for Liberian dollars.

From a giant sheet of plywood to a lovely new bench in my utility area. What a talented engineer Dave is! It's been a highly productive birthday for me, but I'm very happy with my new storage space. 😊

Yesterday was a busy day of unpacking, sorting the new house, and trying to remember where we'd put everything in our mad dash to move in before we left for the UK. We still managed to squeeze in a quick sunset walk on the beach though. It's good to be back.

Sorry we've been a bit quiet on the social front lately, but it's been a busy couple of months! We've had a wonderful time in the UK, but now it's back to Liberia! Thanks everyone for blowing us away once again with your generosity and love.

An exciting and late day yesterday as the latest aircraft to join MAF arrives in West Africa following preparations in the USA and the long journey over the Atlantic.

Next week we start final work to get her operational in Liberia.

We've been watching this pineapple gradually growing and ripening for weeks now, and it's finally ready! It was planted two years ago and now we get to enjoy it. Nothing like some home grown fruit.

Thought I'd open some Christmas chocolate tonight from our UK package... Who needs chocolate buttons when you have one massive chocolate button! It's warm in Liberia. 😅

Things are going well in the pursuit of Lettuce. Had a few fail to grow, to much "sunlight" and water, with some crazy tall tomato plants need adjustment, but its starting to look like good progress!

Today is a special day - our first parcel from the UK since moving to Liberia, in good time for Christmas! Opening Christmas cards from our family brought a very real tear to my eye. Feeling very festive and full of joy this evening. 🥰

Having an engineer in the house definitely has its advantages. We've had serious water issues in the last few days, and have been told it could take a few more days to fix it to get a reliable flow again. In the meantime... Bucket sink!

I have a little visitor today, clinging on to the security bars outside my living room window. We quite often see bats flying around in the early evening, but I've not seen one this close up. It's surprisingly cute, but I'm glad it's on the outside of the house!
