My parents lost their home in the 2018 Paradise, California Wildfire. It was devastating to the whole community and killed 85 people. Our family learned a lot of things in that tragic fire. With all the fires Utah is experiencing, I thought I'd share a few things.

- Digitize your family photos. We lost ALL of our family photos except a handful. Absolutely devastating.

-Regularly take video of your home room by room. Show appliances, furniture, valuables in your safe, jewelry, etc. Some insurance companies just pay out. Some do not and require you to break down the cost of what you owned and cost to replace. My parents had AAA and they had to remember most everything they owned - a total nightmare.

-Have a go bag with phone chargers, important documents (insurance, home, medical, car titles), snacks, water bottles, N95 masks, medication, flashlights, etc. A normally 15 min drive took 5 hours for my parents to evacuate out of the town with fire on both sides of the road and it was pitch black.

- Send location while evacuating so family can track you.

- Fireproof filing cabinets were more protective than the fancy tall safe's...crazy, but true.

- Try to always keep your gas tank at half-tank. (I suck at this.) my Dad ALWAYS kept his tank no less than half. Except the night before the fire he didn't fill up and he ran out of fuel as he rolled into the gas station. Absolutely a miracle.

- Fire and Police were WAY too busy to help individuals. Help yourself and your neighbors...

Fires are unpredictable and scary. If you live in an area prone to wildfire, being prepared will help you get out fast. Your life is more important than any stuff you own... #CampFire #UtahFires #Wildfires

@DrNeilStone My wife is Scottish. We live in the US (Utah). We've had an incredible World Cup experience because of Scotland, their team and staff, and the fans who are absolutely amazing. They have shown us here what it means to support your team, your country, and your culture.

Quick story. We were in a nice steak house with friends in Las Vegas. It was hot outside. My wife wanted a cold Coke. The waiter laughed and said Pepsi only. Water it was. 10 minutes later the waiter came by to check on us. He reached behind his apron and pulled out an ice cold bottle of Coke. He popped it open and took a drink. My wife was stunned. Then he laughed and reached behind and pulled out a second bottle. Ice cold. Happy wife. Large gratuity.

@beezus4 @Maria3938219406 Exactly. You deliver food from the kitchen to the table. It's an expected part of the dining experience. If you do something to make the experience more memorable than expected - the gratuity goes higher.

@GovCox It's probably time to seriously consider a ban on the sale of fireworks this year. Would I miss lighting them off? Yes. Would I miss watching them in my neighborhood with family and friends? Yes. Do I get America and it's 250th celebration? Yep. But at what cost?
