We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Translation: our gross margins are getting competed down to 0 by open source models and our capex burn rate is too high.
Let’s maintain our margins with regulatory capture, ban open source models, and slow down the capex arms race. All with a virtue signaling cherry on top.
In my Budapest apartment I have:
1. radiant ceiling cooling
2. fan coils
3. heat recovery ventilators
4. triple glazed glass
5. separate zoning temperature, CO2, humidity control in each room
which is more advanced than what 99.9% of Americans have so they can fuck right off
@hosseeb this is the most anti-crypto take I’ve read this year. permissionless means permissionless. you don’t get to decide which protocols are ‘allowed’ to exist because you’ve decided they’re too small to defend themselves
@crystalxbtt i’ve lived in both Tokyo and Bangkok for many years. Bangkok wins overall. As a foreigner, Japan is great to visit but living there long term gets to you lol
