@Support I can no longer use X on my Android phone (Pixel 9 Pro XL). It says it can't load my feed and that it's not my fault. My account does work on ipad and web. I've tried clearing cache, storage, and full reinstall. It stil doesn't work on Android. Help please! ๐
@felixleezd Using these apps in English isn't much fun because they don't respect the android text size customisations. I.e. Text remains a small size that only people under 40 can read without glasses, regardless of you having glorious larger text in proper apps.
@lucky2103@Ajarncom That used to be the case but last time we arrived doing CIQ we actually did the immigration step in BKK at the transfer counter, then did customs after picking up the bags at CEI.
@Ajarncom I'm wondering about the line that says 'Made with real potatoes'. Of course we all know that chips/crisps are heavily processed but I would have expected potatoes to be a fundamental ingredient. Makes me wonder what they use for normal ones!
@Ajarncom What a ripper! I love the dead plant on the balcony, and the wobbly looking bedside table that looks like an afterthought. And, how can you pass up the coat stand with canary cages hanging from it. Presumably the birds are stuffed at least and don't chirp all night?
AI is causing a new dev pattern: I heard this yesterday: I show my stakeholders a demo, we generate 10-12 exciting ideas, and by end of next day, 80% are already in production. Then I let them know: 'It's live โ what do you think?"
People who fret about AI replacing dev jobs are missing the point. When you can create value 10x or even 100x more quickly, you get more headcount, not less.
Another example: I paired with someone two days ago who made a circa-2005 Google Analytics clone in less than 30 minutes. (One JavaScript snippet, sending events to Google Cloud Run, PubSub, and BigQuery.). It will eventually ingest 20MM events/month, way above the 1MM Google Analytics limit. (We wrote the reporting engine in Python Streamlit today.)
The longest part of the process? Getting permission to create PubSub subscribers. Not coding.
These types of obstacles are what @steve_yegge and I called "barbed wire" in our Vibe Coding book. But I never saw as vividly as how critical it is to have someone from infosec or admin rights on the team โย all your wildest dreams are blocked by waiting to get access rights.
Another heartbreaking form of barbed wire? People stuck in protracted sprint planning processes, endless backlog grooming meetings about what features should work on next and which need to be pushed into next quarter...
The new bottlenecks are organizational, not technical โย let's go fix them!
@ThaiAirways I also lose the ability to pool baggage allowance with other family members. We prefer using a smaller number of heavier bags. Not lots of small ones. This new policy is a downgrade. @ThaiAirwaysAust@ThaiAirways
@ThaiAirways as a silver frequent flyer I'm not happy with the upcoming baggage policy change next year. Under the current policy I can take a single 30kg bag (using my bonus 10kg allowance). Under the new policy you will charge me excess kg fees. I don't want to take 2 bags.
@bangkokaussie@ron_dickie Oh, and if the balance doesn't exceed a certain amount (I think $5k) with no contributions coming in for a period of time the money will end up with the ATO who I think accrue interest on it.
@bangkokaussie@ron_dickie Yes, though it's still taxed a bit on the way in (15% I think). Also, if she doesn't plan to keep working, make sure she declines the insurance options, otherwise once she stops working they'll just eat up the small balance in no time.
@TeslaAUNZ How about selling FSD on a per trip basis? I don't drive enough to justify $149/month but would love to be able to pay to use it on demand. Think of it like Robotaxi income except I'm using my vehicle. @Tesla
