@RutgersAltRoute Some of my biggest challenges in creating an inclusive classroom, stems from the students in the classroom and getting them on the same page of what an inclusive classroom looks like. This has also led to opportunity in allowing students to grow in working with each other.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: Not just promoting, but creating a community. Through the year, it has been awesome to see my students stick up for each other and have a zero tolerance for HIB because they have a sense that their classmates and peers are part of their community.

@kdannyh@RutgersAltRoute Thanks for doing this! I think showing them the many ways is so important. From my experience, many students don't fully realize that there are other ways besides inserting themself in the situation that can help to stop bullying.
@RutgersAltRoute A4: We can help students to become upstanders by having real conversations about bullying and its affects by using stories, etc. Also, providing them with HOW to be an upstander and demonstrating it.

@RutgersAltRoute A3: When students need support, the primary response should be to listen and listen fully to what has happened and how they feel as a result. Then, its important to offer targeted support and, if possible, offer restorative practices.

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Most HIB that I've seen in school comes in the form of harassment. It often stems from students making fun of and calling people names who are different from them and using that person as the butt of a joke.
