Last Sunday the 185.2 mile Thames Path Relay finished at Woolwich Foot Tunnel, when Jackie Gower from West London Ramblers handed the Acorn Baton to David Gardner, Mayor of Greenwich, watched by a happy crowd of walkers celebrating the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Thames Path National Trail 👏👏

🥾94 hours to walk 185.2 miles
🧑‍🤝‍🧑20 groups/organisations led walks
📌1,412 fingerposts passed
🌉216 bridges crossed (before London)
📌145,763 metres of mown trail; 40,000 metres mown by Thames Path volunteers
📌2,315 metres of newly-surfaced path completed in 2025/26.

When we give someone a visa to come to the UK, it must be clear why and what is expected of them. Not chop and change the rules retrospectively so that they can't contribute to our society.

When we give someone sanctuary we must be clear they have a well founded fear or persecution and that integration is our shared priority.

Yesterday the Acorn Baton travelled from Cutty Sark to Woolwich Foot Tunnel, now the official 'end' of the Thames Path National Trail, on Day 24 of the Thames Path Relay celebrating 30 years of the National Trail. There've been a few diversions since then 😅😅the latest here...🧵
