Topic : Power of Resurrection: Victory Over Death

Easter is the most important celebration in the Christian faith.
Even more than the birth of Jesus, because it is the fulfillment of His purpose.

The resurrection is a celebration of victory over death.

Understanding Death in Three Dimensions

“death” is not just physical, it operates in three dimensions, and through Christ, we have victory over all three.

1. Physical Death (External)

1 Corinthians 15:25–27, 54–55

“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death… Death is swallowed up in victory.”

This refers to the physical body.
•There will come a time when this mortal body puts on immortality
•This is the final victory over death
•The grave will lose its power completely

This is the ultimate resurrection promise

2. Internal Death (The Carnal Mind)

Romans 8:6

“To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

The greatest battle is within.
•The real warfare is in the mind
•Limitation, fear, and impossibility are products of the carnal mind
•Victory begins when the mind is renewed by God’s Word

2 Corinthians 10:4–5

We pull down strongholds… casting down imaginations

A spiritually aligned mind:
•Has access to divine wisdom
•Is not limited by environment or past experiences
•Produces solutions and possibilities

3. Experiential Death (Life Situations)

This refers to situations where:
•A person feels trapped
•Circumstances look like the end
•Hope seems lost

Like:
•Joseph in prison
•Jonah in the belly of the fish

These are moments where God brings deliverance and resurrection power into real-life situations.

What looked like the end becomes:
•A new beginning
•A testimony
•A display of God’s power

Victory in All Dimensions

The resurrection means:

✔ Victory in your body (future glory)
✔ Victory in your mind (renewal and transformation)
✔ Victory in your circumstances (deliverance and restoration)

A Deeper Perspective on Death

Hebrews 11:5 – Enoch

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death…”

This shows a higher dimension:
•Death is not meant to be driven by decay or destruction
•But by completion of assignment

Like Paul said:

“I have finished my course…”

Even Moses:
•Had a conversation with God about his end
•Was not taken by weakness, but by divine timing

Key Insight

God’s ultimate plan is not defeat but completion and transition.

◦You are not meant to be cut short by life
◦You are meant to finish your assignment

Final Reflection

Because of the resurrection:
•Death is no longer a defeat
•The mind can be renewed
•Situations can be reversed
•And life now has eternal meaning and victory

Closing Thought

The resurrection is proof that nothing in your life is beyond redemption.

What looks like the end…Can still rise again.

In 1561, John Knox had an argument with Mary Queen of Scots. In a private debate he questioned her concerning the manner in which she related with scriptural knowledge.

John Knox told the Queen that by leaning to a certain religious group in that day, she had declined from the purity of "religion" as taught by the apostles.

At this the Queen replied: Ye interpret the Scriptures in one manner, and they in another; whom do i believe, and who shall judge?

John Knox replied: "Believe God, that plainly speaketh in His Word; and further than the Word teacheth you, ye shall neither believe the one or the other. The past tense of God's word and our present-day realities.

There is a term used, which the first is our position in Christ, and the second is the condition of our lives.

Our position in Christ reflects the things that God wrought for us in Christ without our own participation or even knowledge. It speaks to the rights and privileges we entered into by reason of our birth into the family of God when we got born again. Our condition is the present state of our lives on the earth, which is a reflection of our souls and also of our bodies.

The Holy Spirit was sent to bridge the gap between our position and the condition of our lives. Largely, the message of grace is about the workings of the Spirit within to produce that.

This is why we will see in scripture Paul state something as ours in Christ using past tense, but then we will find him praying for the same thing that it be fulfilled in us.

The prayer is not a denial of the provision we have in Christ but the acknowledgement of it and then the appropriation of it into our condition.

A person can be born again and positionally be healed by the stripes of Jesus, yet an ailment they contaminated remains still in their bodies after spiritual birth. A deep-seated character flaw like anger and unforgivenes can still remain in the soul.

When scriptures are taught to us, we accept the truth, but acceptance doesn't mean we have "received" it. It is through faith the prayer of faith that which the Bible calls mixing the word heard with faith that causes the profit (spiritual advantage) in the word to appear before all.

Between acceptance and receiving, where it has become an integral part of our lives at subconscious levels, is where spiritual warfare occurs. Fighting the good fight of faith.

Revival is fulfilled by answers to prayers, not something we are trying to achieve by our obedience.

Prayers do not change God. It changes us such that the condition that God requires for the fulfilment of every promise is in existence.

In prayer, God is at work in us. He brings us in alignment with what He wants to do, and when we get in alignment, He fulfils it through us.

It is in prevailing prayer that you get the revival.
