Antiphospholipid antibodies have come under scrutiny as a number of reports emerge documenting their association with blood clots due to #CoVID19. While we wait to find out more, here’s a refresher on catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (cAPS), a #tweetorial 🧵 1/10
@AshkanAra CVS in South Carolina is no longer filling Humira for my patients without proof that they have failed 2 biosimilars or other preferred biologics. It has not helped with affordability for patients in any way that I can tell, unfortunately.
@AshkanAra This is great, Ash! I’m not sure if this applies to the scope of your dissertation but it would be great to have a chart that includes drug monitoring.
@MdWarrington@MayoClinic I’m curious, how much time are you given for each patient visit? I feel that it would be challenging to adequately address all these issues in 20-minute follow-up slots.
According to 2021 @ACRheum guidelines switching to a different class of medication is conditionally recommended over switching within the same class for RA patients who are not at target. Why then is it okay for @bcbssc to decide that my patients need to fail 2 TNF inhibitors?
Thank you to Anthony and the team at @AmericanAir LAS for helping us retrieve my suit that we forgot on the plane. We couldn’t be more grateful! #AA1927
@alhkim@rheum_cat@drdocko I remember interviewing with him for fellowship. There aren’t many people who can put the room at ease and have people leave an otherwise stressful situation with a smile. I left with nothing but good impressions.
How are doctors supposed to go about obtaining peer-to-peers when the insurance company only accepts calls during business hours, and we have patients scheduled during those hours @bcbssc. Your answering service wouldn’t even allow me to leave a message.
@DrCassySims Did they mention why they opted for IV instead of subcutaneous dosing? I was considering this in one of my patients, but most would prefer self-administering at home.
@SituationRheum@rheum_cat @rheumecraig @rheumed I’m a huge fan of all the Schulson restaurants (and most are close by). Try Sampan, Double Knot, or Giuseppe and Sons. They have especially great happy hours if you can sneak out of the conference from 4-6.
@DrChadJohr So happy to have found you on twitter! When talking about DMARDs, I often tell my patients they're like a buffet. There's something for everyone, but they might go through a few dishes before they find the one they like best.
@chrissyfreeMD I will also admit that I am speaking from a position of privilege. Your job as a woman in medicine carries significantly more challenges, and that may be a contributing factor.
@chrissyfreeMD I was very lucky to train in an environment where the nurses were our best friends and allies, both on a personal and professional level. I don’t mean to downplay what you’re going through, but perhaps your situation is reflective of poor culture within your institution.
