@DanielPriestley I mean, the dependency ratio has something to do with it. Singapore has 35 people under 16 and over 65 for every hundred working age people and France has 65. So the working age population has to support almost double the number of people not of working age.

Rolls are falling at much more than 40k a year nationally due to reduction in birth rate.
