Can Goleen end their dream season on a winning note?

@GoleenGaa take on Douglas in the McCarthy Insurance Group Junior B FC final today (Páirc Uí Rinn, 1pm) hoping to add a fourth trophy to their remarkable 2024 haul.

Already, Goleen have won the county confined junior B football championship, the @carberygaa junior B title and Division 2 of the Carbery-Beara Football League.

They have won 17 of the 18 games they've played in 2024, the only blot a league loss en route to winning that title, too.

The backstory is important here. When Goleen lost the county junior B final to Douglas 12 months ago, it was their fourth county junior B final loss since 2019. They had the option to go up to junior A for 2024 but the players decided against it.

'We felt we had unfinished business and that in a couple of years time we would be ruing the fact that we hadn’t won a county,' captain Padraig Reidy explained.

And that's what Goleen did: they beat Ballyphehane in July to win the county confined junior B football final and end all those years of hurt. Goleen became party central.

Now they are on the cusp of a county double and the ideal farewell to the junior B ranks.
