We don't have to let politicians shut down the government.
"We look dumb on the world stage. We're the United States of America. The whole world looks at us and goes, they can't even run a budget."
@SenatorLankford on his Prevent Government Shutdowns Act on @AMPotentialPod with @davidfrom and @AFPhq.
In this episode of American Potential, host @davidfrom is joined by @KR_Bledsoe and @LaStewartSays to bring listeners inside Washington, D.C., with exclusive conversations from members of Congress.
Recorded during the Republican Study Committee’s media row, the episode covers key issues shaping the nation—from the Working Family Tax Cut Act and its impact on everyday Americans to the growing push for permitting reform aimed at lowering costs and boosting economic growth.
Beyond policy, the conversation highlights the critical role of grassroots activism, with members of Congress emphasizing how everyday Americans drive real change. Listeners will also hear personal stories from lawmakers about their own “one small step” into public service—and even which Founding Fathers they’d most like to meet.
This episode offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at policymaking in action—and a reminder that meaningful change starts with getting involved.
In this episode of American Potential, host @davidfrom sits down with @HetemiSarah, Americans for Prosperity’s New Mexico State Director, to share her remarkable journey—from growing up in Norway to becoming a leader in American public policy.
Sarah reflects on her parents’ pursuit of opportunity, her decision to immigrate to the United States at just 18, and the “one small step” that led her into politics—joining a college group in Alaska that sparked a passion for civic engagement.
Now leading efforts in New Mexico, Sarah discusses the challenges facing the state, including high taxes, struggling education outcomes, and untapped economic potential. She shares her vision for restoring opportunity, empowering communities, and ensuring that government reflects the needs of its people.
This episode is a powerful reminder that the American Dream is still alive—and that anyone, from anywhere, can take a step to help shape the future of their community and country.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Memorial Day 😔
It’s such a solemn day—one where we remember the men and women who gave their lives ❤️ to ensure this nation remains free and exceptional ✨
Pritzker fundamentally doesn’t understand how his own bill works. The megaproject bill is far more costly to other taxpayers than $2.5 billion.
The Phantom EAV ($4.9B) on the untaxed property will shift about $343M per year for 40+ years to other taxpayers. Including CPI increases this is over $20B in total.
There's talk from the teachers' union & some IL Dems that IL doesn't spend enough on education. So they want $1B more in tax dollars.
Reality: Over the past 5 yrs, enrollment declined by roughly 105,000 students (about 5%).
AND Per-student spending increased by about 25%.
2020- Total Ed Spending: $31.3B ($16K/ student)
2024- Total Ed Spending: $37B ($20K/ student)
We need to build the Liberty movement in Wisconsin!
If you are under 5K followers, reply IFBWP (for I follow back Wisconsin patriots) and I will follow you and a lot of other great WI patriots will too.
Please share to build our movement!
That’s funny, Pritzker didn’t seem to care when Illinois taxpayers were forced to build his family a ballroom at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. $600M and counting for the complex.
What about the children, retirees and veterans going hungry, while your family doesn’t pay any property taxes?
Hypocrite!
Congratulations to @GovPritzker and his COS Anne Caprara on beating Ken Griffin!
Here’s what Illinois won in the battle.

USDOT says our roads haven't gotten better.
Where did the money go?
When Gov. Pritzker took office in 2019, IL had roughly $134 billion in unfunded pension debt.
Today, IL reports: $143.5B unfunded pension liabilities.
That's a $9.5B increase despite budgets being "balanced" every year.
FYI, the S&P 500 is up 176%, and DJIA 108%.
