Games make the world a better place, even when they aren't trying to. Play is the primary form of learning and therefore the design of curriculum is in fact game design. Educational games put that truth front & center so they're going to continue making great strides.
@davidhmarsh Can I use this as a jumping off point to talk about educational games? Without sharing EVERYTHING you're working on, ofc, can you introduce me to your way of thinking about games & the future of edu?
@muaddibstyle@weberju5 Yes there is. "Lightspeed" is only ever presented as dangerous to the traveler. The fact that interceptor spacecraft exist at all implies that hyperdrive couldn't be weaponized. Are we expected to believe no one else ever had that idea in thousands of years of galactic history?
@muaddibstyle@weberju5 "Left to assume."
Yes! That's exactly what makes it bad!
Making up rules for the world is a framing device. Only works at the edges of a story. Changing rules in the middle of a narrative is like putting the frame through the middle of a painted portrait. Ugly and out of place.
@muaddibstyle@weberju5 Wouldn't have been too terribly hard to come up with a scenario where a suicide attack makes sense. Trouble is they didn't bother.
@muaddibstyle@weberju5 As the general thing, in all fiction, the question "why didn't they do that before?" should always have a good answer in the fictional world.
For example lord of the rings had a good answer to "why not just fly the ring to Mount Doom?" such that they *could* fly in for a rescue.
@ashuadude88@grok@arkivx@NutlawPete@BreannaMorello@TMRush4 There has to be a line drawn around the death penalty somewhere and it has to be objective and consistent. Move it down for this and we'll have to move it for all sorts of other things too. Not worth it.
@EveKeneinan "Related" is way too ambiguous a term. It needs some elaboration.
It seems to me that male and female perspectives are like vantages atop two mountaintops (the height symbolizing reason). They don't see all of the landscape below the same. But the stars above? Yes they do.
Hunter Biden, the dude who got mega bucks jobs and sold dogshit tier paintings for millions in exchange for access to his dad, who is on videos having sex with underage girls-which then got covered up by the world's most powerful media and tech corporations-is now on X lecturing people about the "Epstein Elite Oligarch class".
This shit is WILD.
If I put this kind of thing in a book people would yell at me that it was too ham fisted and unrealistic. :D
@_CharlesPreston You're the racist.
Dude carried the movie. Knocked it out of the park and you're begrudging him that. Just applying your trite superficial formula from sophomore year college.
It's great that the "studies" departments are being eliminated if this noise is what they put out.
@emeriticus Are any of these accusations corroborated or is it only her side of the story?
As if nobody has ever lied and made stuff up for a divorce case...
@JavedLSterritt It's not a woman's story though. And nobody complained about the production of Heavenly Sword or Hellblade which did tell women's stories in the same genre.
@Hyland_7@RayQuantia@MorbidKnowledge That... Actually makes it more believable. The fresh water content of that much beer alone is enough to cause blood electrolyte problems but the brine would protect against it.

Proselytizing them requires that you get to the heart of the disagreement, bring up your core differences with their theology. Which is what they have to do, too, to make a case for their faith that has any chance.
Proselytizing & letting them proselytize is the same thing.
@uncledoomer I don't think it really counts as a Great American Roadtrip if you don't actually cross the country.
Far West is the only one that lets you actually do that. North-South along the Pacific Coast Highway.
Iโm not surprised people post nonsense like this. Iโm surprised anyone is moved by it.
The robe, the beard, the prayer posture, the diet. You think Christianity is a costume contest? You think Jesus came to establish the most culturally authentic Middle Eastern lifestyle brand?
Christianity is a diagnosis. Not of your habits, but of you. Your nature, your essence, the thing you were born with. You came into this world tilted away from God, not because someone taught you to be, but because you are born of man, born of flesh, born of a will that curves instinctively toward itself. That is not a cultural or ritual problem. That is a YOU problem.
And no prophet who bowed correctly ever fixed a nature.
Jesus doesnโt say dress like me. He says you must be born again. Born of the Spirit! Not reformed or repositioned. Regenerated, because what you have cannot be fixed, only replaced.
I donโt care about the robe or the beard. I need saving from myself. From this body that knows what is right and chooses otherwise anyway. From this flesh that is, left alone, its own god.
That is the question Islam never answers. Why do I do what I hate? Who rescues me from this?
Paul whom you Muslims hate asked it and offered Jesus as the answer, the only answer.
