The Bank of England’s going to increase interest rates today. It may be by 0.25%. It could be by 0.5%. But the question is, why are they choosing to increase the price of money when we already have an inflation problem? A thread to explain…..
793 people died yesterday in Italy. 793 in one day, and Australia is currently mimicking their trajectory of infections.
How many Australian deaths will qualify a lockdown? How much longer will we pretend that daily press conferences asking people to wash their hands is a plan?
1700 on Monday, 3400 on Wednesday or Thursday, 7-8000 by next weekend. True number by then 70-80,000 possibly. Primary school maths. Someone should go figure. No magic fairy will bring that down. 14-20 days behind Italy. Believe in maths not magic.
As a frontline doctor in London - you really really need to take this seriously - it is bad - it is really bad - already - and it’s predicted to be worse by next weekend - too many people really don’t get it yet - stay indoors!! Seriously! #FlattenTheCurve#COVID19@doctor_oxford
@annaspargoryan@matthaig1 By the way, thank you both of you for making the last couple of years a little more “comprehensible” and a little less “lonely” .... and not forgetting you @_sarahwilson_ !
I have a dilemma.
I just received my signed copy of @annaspargoryan’s The Paper House (thanks Anna!), but I also just found @matthaig1’s The Humans at a second hand book shop in Maleny.
Which to read first?
@matthaig1 I went to my local bookshop today, in Brisbane, and quietly picked up the book which was spine out, and placed it face out, in front of the featured book next to it.
