In 1153 #OTD died David mac Maíl Choluim, David I, at Carlisle. Arguably most powerful medieval Scottish or Gaelic ruler, at peak his power extended from Orkney to Lancashire. Founded dozens of towns & religious houses, 1st coinage, etc, hence concept of a 'Davidian Revolution'.
