@DaveKelland @FansAFL $100m cost & $50m revenue -> $50m loss for a season w/ 12 rounds + finals. Salary cap $1.2m -> TPP $20m (40% of rev). What are the other $80m in costs? Yes the product must improve to ⬆️ revenue (tix, viewers, sponsors) but they desperately need to rightsize the cost base.
@Final_Word_Pod@collinsadam@GeoffLemonSport@CbusSuperFund The primacy of int’l competition is what makes cricket unique - and great. I don’t want to hear the Neil Maxwells of the world telling us franchise cricket as the dominant form (cf. soccer) is inevitable - it’s not. It’s just mercenaries who sniff $$ & have a barrow to push.
@dangerfield35@dangerfield35 it's incorrect to say "reduce the supply and the demand goes up". Econ 101 shows demand curve stays unchanged & it is Price (⬆️) & Quantity (⬇️) that adjust to a reduction in Supply. What you're advocating is less footy & punters to pay more (tix or pay TV subs)
@Lucasdonsman If clubs won’t draft him without a meeting why would they trade for him (against or without his consent) without a meeting?! Doesn’t solve anything. Clubs are too cautious…his qualities are well known from five years in the league.
@JADelaideX It's clear after all these years that he simply can't find enough of the ball to be anywhere near the midfield or wing. However he has speed, can tackle and so I reckon small defensive forward (taking Murphy's spot) or lockdown defender (for Bond) are his only avenues to a spot.
@1116sen@SENSportsday@sensportsday I know it's based on the CD ratings points but presumably there must be an underlying team structure to the selections otherwise it would just be the 23 highest rating players which would be predominantly mids. What is the team structure that they're following?
@JeffWhite34@First__Use thank you @JeffWhite34 for sharing these instructional videos 🙏. They're really great for sharing with my son (U13) and his team mates to work on their midfield/stoppage craft.
@QBCCIntegrity Very misleading. Most (42/51) US states & even some local cities (like NYC) charge income tax.
The overall tax burden for U.S. tends to be lower, but it varies significantly & AU's higher taxes fund more comprehensive social services & benefits, such as healthcare and education.
@GuyTalksFinance In Australia we have a concept of ‘substitution of security’ where you keep the loan but change the asset. Not sure if it’s available on owner-occupier or just investment properties but that’s what your mate needs.
