Seeing the fan culture at this World Cup, bars being drunk dry, fans out about soaking up the cities they’re in and making an impression on the locals makes you realise how utterly shit Qatar 2022 was.
Lots of huffing and puffing about the [leaked] Trump-Iran MOU this morning. But the terms are an apt reflection of how the war went. Trump eventually got tired of a morass and was willing to pay for an exit-ramp. The war was always a mistake, and the document confirms it.
Exactly how many flagrant fouls is Wemby allowed, @NBA? Let us know.
First he elbows Alvarado in the head. Now that blatantly landing area foul. I know they won't be upgraded for a suspension, but at some point, if he does 5 more obvious ones, can we round up?
.@JamesTalarico: There's been a lot of talk in this race about what it means to be a real man.
Recently on the campaign trail I told the story of my adoptive dad, Mark Talarico. Every Saturday morning, he would mow our lawn, and then without anyone asking him to, he would go next door and mow our neighbor's lawn because she was a widow. My dad never talked about it — he just did it, because that's what a man does.
A man takes responsibility, upholds his commitments to his family and his neighbors, and does what's right, even when no one is watching.
Here's what real men don't do. They don't lie and cheat their way through life, sell their soul to the highest bidder, or steal from other people in order to enrich themselves. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.
I welcome this debate about what it means to be a man, and I don't think Ken Paxton or Ted Cruz are in a position to tell anybody what a real man is.
It's just comical at this point, @NBA. The goaltend by Kornet, the above the cylinder by Wembanyama, Towns just getting shoved by Wemby all the way down the floor on the same possession.
Like, what are the @nyknicks supposed to do? It's confusing to watch.
This doesn’t go nearly far enough. Seniors shouldn’t pay any taxes at all. No income tax, no sales tax - nothing. And to thank them for the great fiscal situation of the USA today, college students should take on additional loans to fund cruise vacations for all seniors.
This deep, aggressive slide into anti-intellectualism is so infuriating because we’re not even combatting opposing views with merit anymore, it’s just fully grown adults being defiantly incurious morons.
Yeah, @StevenACohen2, he needs to be fired for this. Every fan could have told you this before the season.
Pay $40 million for Polanco, who's never played 1B and has played 150 games twice in 12 years?
Re-assess what everyone could already see. Get a VP of Common Sense, @Mets!
David Stearns on bringing in players with injury-history:
"We absolutely have to look at risk assessment on injured players, or players who get injured when they're here. We know the risk of bringing them in — we're feeling it right now."
Trump is mired in an illegal war that's destabilizing the world while spiking inflation and immiserating Americans, a key part of the government remains unfunded, and the Republicans who control both chambers of Congress are fixated on ... spending money for a vanity ballroom that Trump vowed would be privately funded.
A complete clown show.
Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.
In the best case scenario, Trump struck a deal to reopen a Strait that was open before the pointless war he started, with the IRGC demonstrating its control over the Strait and potentially extracting fees plus sanctions relief. Thousands of innocents - including hundreds of children - dead in Lebanon and Iran for no reason. U.S. troops killed and wounded. U.S. embassies and bases in the Middle East badly damaged. U.S. standing in the world obliterated. U.S. munitions badly depleted. Hundreds of billions spent. Prices up everywhere. More global economic fallout to come. Putin strengthened and enriched. Just a catastrophic situation even in the best of circumstances. A profoundly shameful episode in American history no matter what happens next.
