@AnnaMcMorrin@CityHospice@elandrews28 You saw the need for improvements in care, and then you voted to bump people off so that care wouldn’t be necessary.
@AnnaMcMorrin If you think that 2 doctors (I am one) and one judge is the highest level of safeguards (against coercion, rushed decisions, decisions made without being fully informed etc.) it would be laughable, if it wasn’t so sad. Deeply troubled by your ignorance and flippancy.
@AnnaMcMorrin This vote was rushed through and is driven by ideology, not compassion. If compassion was the driving force, killing terminally ill people would never have been considered.
It’s lucky we have a famously competent state, a well-funded health service, & courts with plenty of time on their hands, or I’d be worrying that this is a terrible decision
“I’m shocked a Labour government would do this…and make this one of the first things they do.”
“Do you blame the Prime Minister for that?”
“Of course…”
Christian Fraser speaks to actor and campaigner Liz Carr in the moments after MPs backed proposals to legalise assisted dying. #Newsnight
@AnnaMcMorrin You claim to be supportive of developments in palliative care, but you just voted to reduce the reasons for its development. Instead you want to make people consider ending their lives if they are worried about the possibility of their family seeing them suffer.
@AnnaMcMorrin Deeply disappointed that you have voted this way. It is clear from the way legalised killing laws around the world have expanded that this is a slippery slope.
This is pernicious stuff, but just to be clear, I’m a palliative care doctor who’s also a diehard atheist. I have grave concerns about legalising AD now that are grounded in the suffering I witness caused by the appalling, shameful underfunding of palliative care in the UK.
The idea that the Health Secretary, who will be tasked with implementing an assisted suicide law if the Bill passes Parliament, should not give his view on the proposal is utterly ridiculous. MPs should listen to what he says.
Euthanasia: Careful what you wish for. Dutch consider further extension of euthanasia laws to anyone over 75. Meanwhile seniorUK Judge says UK Bill is “profoundly unsatisfactory” “Lamentably short of adequate safeguards.”Care not Kill. @Keir_Starmer@wesstreeting@RachaelMaskell

@vicderbyshire presses Christine Jardine, Lib Dem MP for Edinburgh West and supporter of the latest assisted dying bill, about the safeguards for the proposed new law.

Progressives really think that there are no genuinely complex moral and legal issues.
They think all policy choices can be simply deduced from "compassion and kindness and common sense".
And people arguing otherwise are simply 'bigots' trying to launder their innate evil.
One of country's most senior retired judges on assisted dying bill's judicial safeguards.
"Only those who believe implicitly in judicial omniscience and infallibility – and I do not – can possibly have any confidence in the efficacy of what is proposed."

Astonishing that the #JuniorDoctorsStrike seems subject to a news blackout.
@BBCNews covering Paris bin strikes though - how wild is that?!
What's going on do you think?
Hi @Waterstones, just wondered if you knew when Time to Think will start arriving in your stores? It’s just you’ve had hundreds & hundreds of copies in your warehouse for weeks, but people can’t currently buy one in Wales, all of Surrey, or most of the UK’s major cities🧵
Thanks to this Government, junior doctors can now make more money serving coffee than saving patients.
From tomorrow we take #JuniorDoctorsStrike action so we’re paid what we’re worth.
👋 @BBCNews
This “news” piece by @NickTriggle on @BMA_JuniorDocs strikes is one of the most unbalanced one-sided pieces of govmnt propaganda I’ve seen in a while.
So much for “impartiality” #TimDavie - littered with errors and bias

This guy 🤦🏻♂️ @BMA_JuniorDocs wrote to him back in mid-August saying if he did not commit to pay restoration it would lead to industrial action.
Last week he said he didn’t have a mandate to discuss pay with us & today he didn’t even turn up to meet us.
This bs👇🏻 is for the press
