#musictherapyconversations ep 89 - @davinav spoke to @EmiBoothMT about their experiences as a deaf music therapist, which they presented on at #BAMT2024 A fascinating and thoughtful interview. Congrats both! Download today. https://t.co/6C4avs8nB4
#musictherapy conversations ep 88 is out - it's the roundtable discussion from #BAMT2024 with @davinav@TillyMutter and @r_darnley along with surprise guests @MusicAdopt and @LadyKeyNote A great moment to reflect on the whole project! https://t.co/6C4avs8nB4
Flying with Virgin Atlantic for the first time in a long time and just now noticing how the class system infiltrates everywhere - their first class is called Upper Class...Feels jarring when announcer is calling for all upper class to board first!
@EfficacyEVA Hi Dr Rolston, I am desperately trying to get hold of you but all your email links bounce back and @baatn_network or @ubeleinitiative are not responding to requests to pass on your details. I hope you see this and if you do, please get in contact!
Creativity wins the battle. She felt that she must have done something bad in her life to have been left with a blindness and the internalised shame was palpable. We must celebrate culture and heritage but also acknowledge when it does harm and damage.
Damage caused by oppression comes up in unexpected places. A South Asian older person @philharmonia Hear&Now project expressed how 'karma' caused her blindness & suffering. I listened to her pain, then heard her read a poem she wrote about "losing her sight but not her vision".
@KateApley @stellahadj @musictherapyuk I would love to hear more - hoping this is a recorded session and that I will be able to listen back. If not - let's chat!
For those of you at the @musictherapyuk#BAMT2024 conference, this is the amazing lawyer / author who wrote The Last Colony which explained how we are still in the era of colonisation. Being from Mauritian heritage, I knew nothing of this until this book. @MdCMusicTherapy
@brass_and the No Bars Collective were at @CurveLeicester with the @philharmonia this evening - doing an intergenerational performance with a youth orchestra, @lmusicmemorybox and Geet Sangeet introducing older people with dementia and young from the same community #musicforall
This MT made links to the silencing of her indigenous music with the story of racism at the #BAMT2024 World Cafe for the first time. We then encouraged her to share her music with the whole conference, and now, the world. #activism@musictherapyuk#change

A truly deserved standing ovation indeed. "Your voice will be heard because I didn't back down" (Dowds, 2024).
My takeaway from the conference #BAMT2024
We couldn't let #WorldMusicTherapyWeek pass by without talking about #BAMT2024, our conference at the Curve Theatre, Leicester in May!
The weekend will be packed with opportunities to explore, celebrate and honour Music Therapy.

In this article from The Times, we see a list of charges for Donald Trump. Below is says "it's a race against time". How messed up is the world when the people are potentially going to vote in someone with such little moral fibre. I'm left a little speechless.
I'm finding more and more that when racism shows up, in its subtle and insidious ways, the big broom of supremacy to maintain the status quo is very quick to appear. Not everyone can see the big broom either.
