1/ Masochism is a key psychoanalytic concept
One form is victim entitlement—insistence one is entitled to special compensation in proportion to suffering & victimhood. Thus the need to *amplify* suffering in all ways
Without treatment, suffering/victimhood becomes a way of life
@JonathanShedler So useful - thanks! And the best comedy portrayal of psychotherapy is Nina Conti and Monkey. It feels just real enough while also being psychologically fascinating, and one of the funniest things ever. https://t.co/ttjzv0x78r

WE DID IT!
Bristol, we made history💚
Thank you so much to the people of Bristol Central who have elected me as their MP
As this city's first Green MP, I promise to be a strong, independent voice for Bristol's values, pushing the govt to be bolder on the issues that matter
@jazztoad Likewise it can also cause irritation, increase pain or cause pain, provoke sensory dysregulation, and provoke unwanted, intrusive or traumatic memories. Which frankly is another reason to that a competent, risk aware MT can be an asset. Music has to be used with care.
It shouldn’t surprise us that music can help people to feel calmer, reduce experiences of pain, connect to memories etc. because we all have all had these experiences. Otherwise, why would we bother with it? (There are many other reasons too admittedly) 🧵
