@TheEconomist I think a large part of it is changing misogynistic religious philosophies. Almost every patriarchal religion teaches that the supremacy of men is the will of God or Allah. To name a few in the King James: Ephesians 5:22, 1 Corinthians 11:3 or The Quran: Al-Baqara 2:228.

@1783American @iamDOAS Those "off the books" don't have healthcare services & are more likely to suffer mistreatment/abuse from employers. To be disabled is something that is definitely "on the books" & requires a lot of documentation, perhaps the lady's family is in a more desperate circumstance.
