Council Grove (2A🏈, 8-3) advanced to the state semifinal tonight for the first time in school history. Braves showing their strength of schedule as they defeat previously unbeaten Humboldt, 31-8, on the road tonight. Defense has only allowed 16 points combined over the last two weeks to two loaded offenses (Humboldt & Silver Lake). What a showdown we have next week versus 2x defending champion Nemaha Central in Seneca. NC defeated Osage City in a showdown, 33-27, tonight. Osage narrowly beat CG on a late score, 26-20, earlier this season in districts. Nice work by Butch Hayes. The seniors went 1-8 as freshman and are now in the last four of 2A for the first time in school history. #sportsinkansas photo courtesy of CG🏈

Harley Smith, from Emporia High School (5A), has started her junior season off dominating the net. She is sitting at the top of 5A in blocks with 54. She also adds 61 kills. Emporia has started the season off 12-6 and head to Topeka Hayden tomorrow for a tough non-district matchup.

Max Armstrong from Olathe South is a player to watch this season. The 5’11 190 RB/LB had 69 tackles and over 1000 yards rushing as a junior. Armstrong was a Sports in Kansas Non Senior First Team RB and honorable mention defense last fall. #sportsinkansas
