. . . What?
[Raising a brow, Eddie finds a spot to sit, as if to console Frank, even though he's about to be the one in need of consoling, kinda.]
What do you mean?
[Eddie is wiping his shoes on the mat, humming in thought.]
Well, I mean, she sounded very-- sad when she called me to come pick up the package. Heck, I didn't even see her face? She just slid th' package to me from behind her door.
“Wonderful! Come in, come in~”
A happy little singsong as he leads the way inside, setting the package down on his kitchen table so he can put the kettle on.
“An anniversary… My, I hope I haven't forgotten something important! I'm not the best for remembering dates.”
Oh, uh. . . sure! Tea'd be lovely. . . you're the last stop I had to make t'day, anyway. . .
[He smiles, seeming to be as goofy and lovable as ever.]
Yeah, she said somethin' about an "anniversary", but-- she didn't indulge much else than that! I wonder what's going on?
“Is that so? I do hope she feels better soon, whatever's got her down…”
A curious hum as he accepts the package, absentmindedly weighing it up in his hands. What could it be?
“Oh, thank you—” Just like that he's blushing. “Would you like to come inside for some tea, Dear?”
[Eyes jump around Frank's frame for a moment.]
Hi, Frank! I've got a delivery from you from Ms. Lovebug! She said she wasn't feeling like herself so she entrusted me to deliver somethin'!
[Handing the package to Frank, before commenting.]
I like your hairclip, too!
Ohp—! He only knows one person who knocks so loud!
Frank gives himself one last look over before moving to answer his door, a bright smile on his face. Spring truly brings out the best in him~
“Hello, Mr. Dear! How are you today?”
He's got a clip that looks like a caterpillar holding his hair in place as he take a rare moment to preen in front of the mirror.
Not bad at all, Mx. Frankly~
. . . If y'say so. I hate bein' so flaky wit' my brain.
[Eddie seems embarrassed. . .The touch to his shoulder does help, but his mind aches from the lack of memories he's been struggling with for a while now.]
Why don't I jus' teach you the next few folds, Frank?
[That's the question that makes Eddie stop. He removes his hands from Frank's to rub his chin, trying so hard to recollect. But. . . nothing comes to his hazy mind.]
. . . I-- I don't remember when I started, so I couldn't answer that question.
[He admits, shame ++
++ a bit less wonky this time.]
See? Just like that! That's the first fold. Even though it's creased tight now, undo the fold and practice folding over the paper.
You can't expect to do somethin' right the very first time ya do it, Frank. And it's okay to not do good the first time. I got so much paper, we can always try again.
[The mailman says, voice gentle and understanding. He hums at the first fold being completed ++
<< It's an odd feeling, he's so used to being the one guiding the others, watching over them.
“Didn't I say you'd jinx me, Dear?” Frank muses softly to break the quiet, glancing to Eddie.
[He sees Frank make a wonky fold, and instead of being rude, he merely smiles.]
It's okay, Frank. We can try again! Plus, you didn't crease the fold tightly, so try folding it--
[Putting his hands over Frank's and guiding his fingers along the paper! Intimately, but ++
++ it's like when you get really good at folding!
[Takes a floral piece of paper and instantly starts folding it with precision, care, and expertise in every movement, ending up with the bookmark easily made when he's done.]
See? Now we just gotta go slower, step by step!
Sure thing! [He notices the similarity of his favorite color personally and the color Frank chose. Must be a coincidence. . .]
[He takes Frank to the desk, and pulls up a stool from the corner to sit next to his own at the desk.]
So, let me show you what ++
Oh, the floral would be lovely! But perhaps a little too distracting in the corner of his vision while reading?
Taking a moment to weigh up his options, Frank hums as he picks out a flat purple paper— Eddie's favourite colour! Simple and sentimental.
“This one, Dear?”
