If a migrant boat is still afloat and the people on board are not actually in the water or in immediate danger, on what legal basis is the RNLI collecting them and transporting them to the UK?

Section 25 of the Immigration Act 1971 makes facilitating a breach of immigration law a criminal offence.

And under the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, the maximum sentence was increased to life imprisonment.

Yes, there are statutory protections for genuine rescue operations. I accept that.

But that makes the question even more important:

Where does rescue end and facilitation begin?

If these people are being rescued from genuine danger, show us the evidence.

If they aren’t in danger and are instead being transported towards the UK, then the public deserves to know exactly why that does not amount to facilitation under Section 25.

Nobody should be above the law.

Not the Government. Not people smugglers. And not anyone else.

Investigate it. Apply the law. And if a criminal offence has been committed, prosecute whoever is responsible.

Venice sits on 10 million tree trunks that were hammered into mud over 1,000 years ago. They never rotted, because the Venetians stumbled onto the one loophole in how wood dies.

Rot is a biological process. Fungi and bacteria eat wood, and nearly all of them need oxygen to survive. The Venetians drove their piles through the soft lagoon floor into dense clay, fully below the waterline, where the mud is packed so tight oxygen can't reach. The organisms that destroy wood simply starve down there.

Then the water does something stranger. Minerals in the seawater seep into the submerged trunks year after year, filling the wood's cells and slowly hardening them. Give it enough centuries and the wood drifts toward stone.

The wet-dry zone at the surface, where rot actually thrives, never touches the wood at all. Venetians capped every pile below the low-tide line with slabs of Istrian limestone, a stone so dense it barely absorbs water, then built the brick and marble on top of that. The wood stays drowned forever. Drowned is the safe state.

When the bell tower in St. Mark's Square collapsed in 1902, engineers dug in expecting a rotten foundation. They found piles roughly 1,000 years old still intact, and reinforced them rather than replace them.

Records from the Salute church claim 1,106,657 piles were driven for that single building, over about two years of continuous hammering. The Rialto Bridge sits on 12,000 more.

Venice is a petrified forest planted upside down, and the water everyone assumes is killing the city has spent ten centuries preserving its foundations.

The "insanity" argument for Lindsay Clancy is just this: 1) She had the thought and desire to strangle her children to death. 2) Only an insane person would have those thoughts and desires. Therefore, 3) she was insane.

If the jury is stupid enough to buy this line of logic, it will set a precedent that if applied consistently would exonerate literally every murderer, past or future. Every murderer has murderous desires. Every murderer has "intrusive thoughts" about murdering the person they murdered. Lindsay Clancy's whole case rests on the supposition that it's essentially impossible by definition for a sane person to murder someone.

This is a very important verdict. The implications of "not guilty" in this case are dire.
