Mauricio no es un paraíso para todos.
Tras sus idílicas postales se esconde un atroz negocio: ser uno de los principales países en la exportación de macacos para ser “usados” en “experimentos”.
@felixprehn Gidday Felix, mate I am interested to get take on investing in Crypto. I was told about BTC back in 2011, and due to the belief in the “Fiat” system, i told the idea of BTC was complete rubbish.
Thousands of long-tailed macaques are exported by #Mauritius every year to suffer & die in toxicity testing laboratories in the USA, EU & UK. Shame on @Ramgoolam_Dr & @SeeMauritius - the reputation of Mauritius as a holiday paradise is tarnished by such inhumanity to #monkeys.
You can spend nothing on fuel and still pay for rising diesel prices through your grocery bill.
The trucks delivering food to supermarkets need diesel. When diesel costs more, those deliveries become more expensive.
That extra cost can reach you at checkout, even when you buy exactly the same things.
This is one way an oil supply problem spreads into everyday spending.
A hurricane can disrupt oil production. A war can block a shipping route. If that pushes diesel prices higher, goods carried by truck become more expensive to transport.
Food is one example. Building materials face the same delivery problem.
That’s why an oil shock matters beyond the petrol station. Even if you don’t drive, the things you buy still need to reach you.
That little boy has no idea that one day, when he’s all grown up and facing the realities of life, he’ll look back and realize those were the happiest days of his life. ❤
I own gold for the same reason I buy insurance.
It won't build my wealth, but it does protect part of my purchasing power when governments print money.
It cannot be printed, whereas currencies can.
That makes it valuable during periods of heavy money printing.
A lot of people have told me they're going all-in on it for this reason, but I wouldn't recommend this.
It still gets traded, it's price can fall hard, and if you are retired when that happens, being forced to sell during a drawdown will be painful.
So just treat it as insurance against currency debasement, not your entire retirement plan.
On November 3, 1957, Laika—a small stray dog from the streets of Moscow—was sent into space on Sputnik 2. She became the first living being to orbit Earth
She didn’t volunteer.
She didn’t return.
But she will not be forgotten.
