Legacy of the Servant Leader: H.E. Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, 16 Years On
Today marks 16 years since our nation lost a dear hero, an icon of integrity, a selfless patriot, and a man I was privileged to call not just my boss, but my brother and worthy partner in service.
As I reflect on the passing of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, I am reminded of the shared passion we both held for a Nigeria where justice is not a slogan, but a lived reality for every citizen.
Our partnership was anchored on a common vision: to build an inclusive, united, and just nation. Yar’Adua was a man of quiet but profound conviction who believed that the strength of a country is measured by its commitment to the rule of law and the sanctity of the ballot.
He did not just lead; he served with a humility that is rare in the corridors of power, often putting national stability above personal or political gain.
His record in peace-building stands as an enduring legacy. He understood that true nation-building requires the courage to admit flaws and the sincerity to fix them.
For leaders, the life of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua serves as an enduring lesson. His example teaches us that leadership is a sacred trust, and that progress is only sustainable when it is rooted in transparency, accountability, and a genuine love for the people.
Sixteen years later, his strides continue to testify for him. As we remember this "Gentleman President," let us rededicate ourselves to the worthy causes he pursued with such passion.
I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) continues to grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus.

Christian’s and Muslims don’t allow them deceive you, you all serve God in heaven.
Don’t allow these evil doers turn you against each other.
Our collective enemies are the evil doers that cause division.
It is not a Muslim/ Christian fight. It’s a fight against insecurity!
Before they pay off this newspaper to delete the tweet, I will bring it to the attention of the whole world.

This GENERATION hides behind "I don't owe anyone anything" to avoid ACCOUNTABILITY. Yes, tf you do! You owe APOLOGIES to those you hurt. GRATITUDE to those who showed up. RESPECT to those you disrespected. That's not a weakness. That's MATURITY
My boss for life! President @GEJonathan graciously nominated and supported me to be President of the @AfDB_Group in 2015. I was happy he told me "I am very proud of you. You have done a great job! You have made Nigeria and Africa very proud." Thank you Sir! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Welcome.
And when you finally figure out who the "they" are (hint: It's not actually "Tinubu," "Fulani herdsmen" or in fact anybody from Nigeria), then you'll finally become a "conspiracy realist" like me.
Good morning.
Pa Ayo Adebanjo: A Life of Service, Justice, and Truth.
My family and the Obidient Movement got the shocking news of the passing on of our dear father and leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who was a great pillar in the struggle for a new Nigeria. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and the Afenifere organization.
His death is a profound loss to Nigeria and to all who cherish justice, equity, and truth. As the leader of Afenifere, Pa Adebanjo remained a steadfast advocate for a united and progressive Nigeria. His unwavering commitment to fairness and his relentless pursuit of a better nation have left an indelible mark on our country's history.
One thing my political journey in life taught me, for which I am eternally grateful to God is bringing me close to a few great minds who helped to shape my perception of this land as a great country. One such person is Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the quintessential Afenifere leader.
I remain deeply grateful for his support during my presidential campaign. His endorsement was not merely a political gesture but a testament to his belief in the ideals of equity and inclusiveness. He stood firm in his convictions against all odds demonstrating his dedication to the greater good of Nigeria.
The last time I spoke with him, his words left a lasting impression: “Always stand on the path of justice.” That advice remains a guiding principle in my life, and I reaffirm my commitment to upholding it in honour of his memory. In my association with Pa Adebanjo, I come to appreciate Nelson Mandela's words, “I like friends who have independent minds because they tend to make you see problems from all angles.”
As we mourn his departure, let us also celebrate a life well-lived in service to humanity and commit ourselves to upholding the values he so passionately championed.
May his death not be in vain. Instead, let it serve as a renewed call to action for all who believe in justice and fairness. As we extend our condolences to his immediate family and the Afenifere organization, may we find solace in the enduring impact of his remarkable life. -PO
I am ever elated by the huge success Nigerian youths are making in various fields, especially in the entertainment sector.
I like therefore to extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby , who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category.
I also rejoice with Nigeria's entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories.
Undoubtedly, Nigeria remains home to the endless flow of talents who through their creative arts, continue to put the nation on the global map.
I firmly remain committed to building a nation that fosters growth among the youths and helps them discover and harness their individual talents for national productivity.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
Because you hate Tinubu doesn't mean you should hate Yorubas and the Yoruba culture. Tinubu doesn't represent the Yorubas. There are many Yorubas that can't stand him. He lost in Lagos & Osun. Don't use Tinubu as an excuse for your Bigotry and tribalism
When 35 governors, spearheaded by Rotimi Amarchechi, were pressing for the ECA money to be shared and blown, only one governor dared to be different. Only one governor asked them to spare it for the rainy day. His name is Peter Gregory Obi.
