Nothing from the end of the season showed he was capable of the job, so this is either a lack of options or lack of budget (or both). Hope I'm proven wrong. Needs to quickly improve on basics like team selection and substitutions, which is actually horrifying to type.
EXCLUSIVE! Craig McLeish to be named St Mirren manager as Buddies hand him 2-year deal after successful survival mission | @ScottBurns75

@CairtersSMFC Definitely thought it would - I can't believe the official figure, seemed very low, I was in the South stand and there wasn't a seat empty anywhere near me. Or anywhere else I could see.
@CairtersSMFC Partick came to let us beat ourself and it nearly fucking worked. They should have been put to bed easily tonight, they're a poor side, but so are we on that evidence. Big changes needed, big summer ahead
@ScotlandNT@pieandbov@FIFAWorldCup Bowie & Miller, good enough to go for £10mil combined to a top 4 European League. Not good enough for Clarke. Utterly embarrassing but predictable nonetheless. People 3rd choice for their team picked instead. Will support the team of course but have no faith in the manager.
@saintmirrenfc@UltimateHomeSo1@VertuMotors@SponsorsCorner Multiple players out of position - again
One up top with strikers on the bench - again
Tanser & Young not starting is baffling
It's hard to see any plan for the playoffs when all that's happening is repeating the same mistakes week after week after week
@saintmirrenfc@UltimateHomeSo1@SponsorsCorner All wrong from McLeish today - lineup, formation, tactics, subs. Same players letting us down in recent weeks. Need something different next week or might as well start prepping for the playoff.
@jamlang22 Jamie the boy was a credit to himself, yourself, and the club today. Didn't shirk from the pressure, performed admirably, and absolutely not at fault in any way. Hopefully goes on to have a big future in the game
While we are sad to see Stephen leave the club, he departs with the best wishes of everyone at St Mirren after four years of outstanding service.
Thank you for your contributions, Stephen.
@philsuds@saintmirrenfc@UltimateHomeSo1@SponsorsCorner I genuinely don't want to win games based on officiating or VAR mistakes, regardless of karma or point scoring on other fan bases. We're in the middle of a genuinely open season for the first time in decades, and VAR is ruining the product as its all that gets talked about weekly
@philsuds@saintmirrenfc@UltimateHomeSo1@SponsorsCorner Absolutely right. Every club has been affected by the incompetence and wildly inconsistent decision making. Every club is being charged a lot of money for a system not fit for purpose.
@BornonLoveStre1@saintmirrenfc@UltimateHomeSo1@SponsorsCorner Private conversations should have happened long ago, and if they did they've had no effect whatsoever. In my view, only public pressure will force change. Silence is acceptance, and as a fan owned club fans deserve to know what the club are doing about this.
@saintmirrenfc The club needs to make stronger statements than saying we're "disappointed". VAR is not fit for purpose and has legitimately cost us points in a season where we desperately need them. We should be at the point of refusing to pay for it in protest at a faulty product.
In a season of scandalous decisions against us, this could be the worst. The lengths refs go to in order to try and rule our goals out is beyond belief.
