@Titans The heel rule (that I didn’t know existed till just now) makes zero sense.
Tap your toe and hop out and that’s a catch, but tap your toe and roll your heel on the line and you’re out? How does that make sense?
@jimzaura@sullydish Good point, and I'm not denying that the exit has been completely botched. I just keep seeing this portrayed as "our last soldier boarded a plane yesterday leaving thousands of civilians behind" and "we gave up the airport" - when in reality it was a temporary security breach.
@youbewho@rick_raley@varadmehta@Danny_Funaro Except we didn't. There was a breach in security, Afghans stormed the runways, then our troops cleared them out and regained control of the airport (with reinforcements on the way).
@randomoneh @caerbannogkitty @HardcoreHistory I caught it on a plane, so I didn’t get the full experience. But for me it definitely aimed for realism, not romanticism.
So refreshing to hear two people with very different opinions openly discussing ideas. Not a petty debate, no score card needed. It was a nuanced exploration of perspectives. Thanks for doing it and I hope we get a follow up. @kmele@VanLathan
@ikirigin@benshapiro Except tax rates for the top 10% haven’t increased in lock step with that chart. So this chart is simply showing how the top 10% has earned more and more than the rest of the US over time. Whether you think this is good or bad, it’s counter to the point of the tweet.
@AWierzOne@mattyglesias I highly recommend this podcast. It's not solely focused on your question, but there's a lot of interesting analysis of various policing strategies, costs, and outcomes. https://t.co/FKFJrtQnMk
@_BlackBinLiner@bariweiss Exactly, it sounded like Vice found 3 angry customer service reps, and now we have a viral controversy about a book that no one has actually read yet.
So one time, GOLF magazine asked me to play a round with Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward and write about it. If you don’t know those names, they were two tough-as-nails boxers who fought three hellacious fights against each other and somehow became golf buddies.
@Betweenthe20s@ramon_leon@RBReich I think CA is a perfect example of what’s wrong with the EC. 5.8 *million* people in CA voted for Trump (as many as TX!), but none of those votes counted thanks to the EC.
@LaconicInvestor@DrBitcoinMD@ericweinstein More like, for 3.5 years “the Russians influenced the election by spreading misinformation online”. Whether or not that’s true, it’s a completely different accusation than saying our actual voting system is rigged.
