𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: #49ers HOF QB Joe Montana says Tom Brady ISN’T the goat and that #Dolphins Dan Marino is, via @tmz
“Put Marino into today’s game where he gets free release… and his receivers, holy cow, weren't very big. Now these guys are 6'4, 6'5. I think [Marino] is probably one of the most unsung heroes of the game. People don't talk enough about him or realize the numbers that he put up during the times that he put them up."
Montana said that Patrick Mahomes has the potential to surpass Dan Marino as the goat eventually.
“The things he does and is able to do are so different than what any other quarterback does who's out there.”

Is Lamar the best passer in the league? Absolutely not.
Is Lamar a good enough passer to be successful? Most of the time, yes.
Does his pass game benefit from his ability to run the ball? Yes, but that’s a positive not a negative.
This isn’t binary.
“Lamar wouldn’t be a good QB without his legs.”
“But he does have legs.”
“Yeah but what if he didn’t.”
“That’s like saying what if you didn’t have a brai… Oh wait.”
“Lamar can’t throw the ball.”
“Yes he can.”
“Only bc he runs so well.”
“That’s part of the package.”
“When teams play the pass he doesn’t put up good passing numbers.”
“But then he runs for a bunch.”
“But then they’ll stop him running.”
“Then he can pass on them.”
This was a bad week for the 'Lamar can't be a passing QB without the run game' people.
Denver did a really good job of shutting down that run game, AND kept Lamar inside the pocket a lot.
He just dropped back to pass, put up 300 against a good coverage group.
