@PeterDClack Like always, Peter Clack is lying.
Here are the facts.
Fossile fuel economy requires 535 times more mining than renewables.

@hadilq@skdh Copenhagen interpretation? As I see it an incoming single photon packet passes a shutter just as the shutter changes state. The time variation in the Hamiltonian potentially injects energy into the system, and can create new photons, as a collision with another particle might.
@hadilq@skdh Well, OK. If your point of view doesn't alter the mathematical predictions of QED, I'm not sure what material difference your preferred language makes - albeit I still suspect we are saying different things.
@hadilq@skdh I've a feeling this is going to lead me down an unrewarding rabbit hole. But just to put on record what the exquisitely tested QED says: excitations of the electromagnetic field are quantised, and the quanta are photons.
Beverly Turner used to be alright. Since she's started working for GBNEWS she's become more and more radicalised and quite frankly ABSURD.
She's sat here denying what's going in Belfast isn't a riot.
@beverleyturner you sound utterly unhinged here and truthfully- a disgrace. How dare you.
@Ofcom do your job.
Ant currently resides in Dubai and previously spent 13 months in prison for assaulting police officers.
If you see him, protect yourself and stay safe.
@jemmm85517813 Of course it allows debate. But there is no debate amongst serious people about the mechanics of the Greenhouse Effect, because it is very well understood. Obviously there are many things about climate that are not settled. This isn't one of them.
@jemmm85517813@GattepailleMy You constantly just make things up. It is not in any sense hotly debated whether CO2 causes warming - the physics of this is perfectly clear. The only people who debate it are those who haven't understood the physics, or who are deliberately purveying disinformation.
@jemmm85517813 Yes. Personally, I always go to engineers/independent filmmakers to get any advice I need on climate science. Failing that, I'll try asking a retired GP.

@jemmm85517813@plav1951 You are actually half right this time. High pressure leads to an extreme form of pressure broadening of CO2 IR absorption, trapping heat over pretty much the whole thermal spectrum. Conversely on Mars the lack of pressure broadening leads to a weak GHE.
@jemmm85517813@TonyVic17@MarkSerreze "There is no reason to believe" = "There are multiple compelling reasons to believe, but either I don't want to know about them, or I don't want you to know about them".
