If possible, I will leave what i have to say until 3 Feb 2027 (7 years from Stormont declaring a Climate Emergency and just 3 months before AE 2027).
However, it is abundantly clear that the current generation of politicians are in no way capable of leading us safely through the challenges and opportunities of the next number of years.
@renewnipolicy Well done to you all and good luck.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
@JP_Biz will rigorous implementers be rigorously opposing this as unlawful State Aid or do those rules not apply? Or just to be ignored after €40 billion in state aid bailouts to airlines during covid?
EXCLUSIVE | An official bid alongside £67m of public money will be offered up to Ryanair this month as Northern Ireland fights off competition to host the low-cost airline’s £400m hub and 600 new jobs, the Belfast Telegraph can reveal. https://t.co/0Soeo77bQi
I am not sure if this is measuring unemployed or NEET, but NI stands up well.
Not through good design or good government, but through good luck.
Our young people need a Stormont that can safely navigate challenges of the decade ahead.

A tremendous one-liner from Clodoagh
Echoing Cicero, 63 BC - “Quo usque tandem abutere, Catilina, patientia nostra?”
“For how much longer will you abuse our patience” (patients in this case)
“AE 2027 - the quo usque tandem revolution.” I like the idea
@KateNicholl Understood, but ….
it is immoral to be relying on migration when we have a NEET rate of 13% (8% in australia)
It is immoral that we were relying on 24% of our nurses having been trained abroad (in countries that need them) because we’re not investing in training them ourselves
Weird that 3 US companies -- Apple (€4.1bn), Microsoft (€5.6bn) and Eli Lilly (€5.7bn) -- now pay for people's heating oil, pension increases and tax cuts in this Budget.
Near directly/ They file windfall taxes = we hike social spending and cut our income tax. Utter dependence
@KateNicholl You guys in @allianceparty should merge with @SDLPlive , become the biggest party, and get yourselves ready for votes at 16. Why not? It would offer good hope. and help both parties remove the reliance on sf transfers.
Russia's five-hospital quarantine, FSB involvement, and reported hazmat use in response to the death of a single researcher at a weapons-lineage Irkutsk lab are inconsistent with a lab-acquired plague infection, which would have been treated with prophylactic antibiotics.

I did an article on this a few weeks ago, about how rapid population growth driven by immigration is deepening the housing crisis, and got accused of being anti-immigrant by some of our loony left?
David McWilliams is re-posting this stuff, it’s really basic
Irelands population growth is at insane levels, during a massive housing crisis
We are growing at about 1.7% average annually the last 5 years, against an EU average of about .24%.
Ireland is 7 times the average.
The next fastest growing comparable are Spain and Portugal, at half our rate.
In the 20th century, our growth in the second half of the century was over .7%, considered rapid and Europe leading.
We have gone into unsustainable overdrive. Grand if housing and services were keeping pace but they aren’t remotely.
Based on the current 36k completions a year, it would take Ireland about 15 years to clear the estimated backlog of required housing stock. Meaning another generation are locked out of housing
That isn’t remotely the immigrants fault. The immigrant is welcome.
The problem is government policy that deprives many of housing.
Increase house completions rapidly.
Introduce temporary restrictions on non-resident/investor purchases of existing homes, like New Zealand, Canada, within EU law (Denmark).
Align immigration with labour market needs.
End and replace a flawed refugee system.
The August 2026 YouGov poll saw 69% of British people says immigration was too high (much 47%, a little 22%).
43% said it was ‘mostly bad’ for Britain.
Just 21% said ‘mostly good’? Shocking, worrying stats.
We can’t assume Irish exceptionalism
@GRobinsonDUP
I just listened to @RestIsPolitics telling the rest of UK & world about Drumcree, Robert Hamill, the Quinn brothers, the 1998 stats -
615 attacks on security forces, 284 public order arrests, 632 petrol bombing incidents, 2,250 petrol bombs recovered, 178 hijackings, and 76 RUC officers injured.
That is what GB and world listeners are hearing this week.
Whatever you think of the rights and wrongs, you are achieving nothing but bringing disgracing on us all.
Take your “win.” Go home. Drumcree is over.
The world is changing fast. AI, the world of work, pandemics, global migration, cost of living, new cyber threats and moreover incredible new opportunities.
There is huge merit and advantage in a highly capable, nimble and professional Stormont that can safely and successfully guide us through the next 2 decades.
There is zero merit in the current disfunction and division.
We need wipe-out politics. Best achieved at a General Election first, but deserves thought as to what can be achieved at ae2027.
Things will become clearer in the coming months
