Just because😉 ……two fab kids (well adults but I like to think of them as little people still!) and one amazing GSD with dodgy elbows! 🌈🐾(19:04:14-19:01:24)
2 things happened this week… a good friend sadly had to put their lovely family dog down and someone told me there was no way they would ever get a dog because they were… “too much work”.
It made me think about how much we love our Winnie.
You start by getting a dog and think that you’re looking after them but the truth is they care for you.
Dogs don’t worry about yesterday or tomorrow - they are kings and queens of living in the moment.
‘Pets’ doesn’t really cover it… they are teachers… they are friends.
They mirror you. Their fear grows when yours does. When you are steady, they are at peace and, when something good happens… they’ll celebrate like it’s the best thing in the world.
Your dog knows the sound of you coming home, they learn your walk, the rhythm of your laugh and the moment your heart sinks… you are their everything.
You are not just their owner… you make them feel safe, you are their routine… you are what home feels like.
Every walk is more than exercise… it is precious time with their favourite person.
One day… you won’t hear them rushing when you arrrive to show you how much they love having you around. I am not looking forward to that day 💔
You are not just a part of their life… you are their life.

Pumpkins:
Halloween is one night.
Tonight.
If you have to waste a food item (and I strongly suggest you don't), please put it out for one night, then safely dispose of it.
Please DO NOT put it out for the wildlife.
Once you've handled it, cut it, left it out in the open, unrefrigerated, it will not be hygienic or safe for anyone to eat.
Pumpkins are a low-acid vegetable, so once they are cut and left at room temperature, pathogens will rapidly grow on the flesh, producing mould spores.
Our precious wildlife do not have any magical properties that protect them against food poisoning.
Additionally, this time of year there are baby hedgehogs around, born too late to find natural food, desperate to eat anything to stop the pain of starvation.
Pumpkin has a laxative affect so it would be particularly cruel to leave it out for starving wildlife to eat in desperation, causing them to lose precious fluids that may make the difference between life and death.
So no matter what you read elsewhere, please DO NOT put your discarded decoration out for the birds or any other wildlife.
Please DO NOT compost them either, as a composting pumpkin can produce highly toxic tremorgenic mycotoxins, which will be deadly if the compost bin is not properly secured and is accessible to wildlife (or pets).
Many hedgehogs, seeking the warmth of a compost bin, die this way every year.
Once you've used the pumpkin as decoration it's waste, fit only for the bin.
Please help get this vital message spread far and wide, to save precious lives and prevent suffering.
@WmDeanFrench You made my day seeing you and the dogs today 🥰🐾
I know you say we’re not too bothered but your messages and the interaction with the dogs lightens my heart and helps through tough times! Thank you for being such a kind person and caring for such beautiful souls 💙💖
@DC_PoliceDogs Good luck! Our girl had this too, she cost us a fortune, sang VERY loudly at hydro every week, but she was worth every penny 🥰🐾 We lost her last year and miss her every day. x
@TheOverBorders Hard as it is - she won’t have known anything about it! It’s you guys left behind that are hurting so so much 😢😢😢 Be strong for your dad and treasure the time you have with him. And the girls will be with you through it all - it’s surprising how a hug from a fur baby helps 🐾
Two orcas and 12 dolphins are currently stranded in algae-infested, abandoned pools after a park closed down in France.
Horrible.
Activists are calling on the French authorities to take action before the animals get sick, or worse.
French authorities are currently blocking efforts to have the animals transferred to a Zoo in Japan.
Some activists are trying to get the orcas, 23-year-old Wikie and her son, Keijo, 11, transferred to Nova Scotia, Canada.
"The orcas need to be removed from dangerous conditions that are posing significant risks to their health and safety," said Marketa Schusterova of TideBreakers.
