And here's the thing — pap isn't just pap. The way you cook it changes everything.

🥣 SLAP PAP
Soft and porridge-like. Eat with butter and sugar.

🍚 STYWE PAP
Firm, stiff pap. Perfect next to your braai meat with plenty of sous.

🌽 KRUMMELPAP
Dryer, loose and crumbly. Also eaten with tomato and onion sauce or butter, milk and sugar.

And then...

THE SOUS. 😍

Usually a rich tomato-and-onion sauce spooned generously over the pap.

Now imagine:

🔥 Wors straight off the braai.
🍚 A good helping of pap.
🍅 Warm tomato-and-onion sous over the top.

Jinne. 🤤

And pap isn't exclusively Afrikaner food either.

It's one of those foods you'll find across South African cultures and tables, prepared in different ways and called different things.

Simple ingredients.

Nothing fancy.

But put pap en sous next to meat straight off the fire, surrounded by friends and family...

That's a FEAST. ❤️

Our small wishlist was picked clean. Thank you all for all you've done for us. Either by buying something for us or just by liking and reposting the list. We can't believe the generosity of our new fellow Americans. As soon as all otems are delivered, we will take some photos and post it. @Echo3J We tried not going over board on the list and tried looking for the cheaper items. Still so grateful. Its easy to add hundreds of items. But it's not what we need now

Yesterday and today felt like Christmas for us. Our wishlist packages arrived and we sat like children on the floor opening boxes one by one. For some reason there was two of some of the things and we then able to make someone else's day a little better. And there was also a fan that was never on the list,now we don't have to take the fan as we go. One in the living room and one in the bedroom.
We really feel so blessed that so many came together and helped us, total strangers.
Thank you to each and every one that contributed in a way.
