@google is deep in the dark patterns now.
They do not tell you that your (Nest) subscription renewal is coming up (and you won't get anything back if you cancel), they send emails claiming that you've lost all of your subscription benefits, when they're still there for a year.

I once asked for directions to a place in @googlemaps, and now, until the heat death of the universe, it will keep asking me "how was <place>", even though I *clearly* have not been within hundreds of miles of the place. There's no way to get it to stop asking.

@NWSBayArea The tsunami map was wildly inaccurate! It showed water all the way up to 400 feet elevation, way past 280, inundating places like Los Altos *Hills*. Hopefully this can be corrected before the next one?

@haxrob Oops, re-read it. It doesn't say "you must provide location to even use the device", just that they may collect it when you register. So I withdraw my comment

@haxrob I just got a "fendemore" BT thermometer, and it turns out to really be tuya, or at least, they use the tuya app. The "privacy" policy says "we collect your name, address, phone number, location". Is it abuse if they tell you that they are doing it? Maybe your policy differed.
