Amazing first day of the Ibero-American Society of Interventional Radiology (SIDI) Congress in Medellín, Colombia! My lecture was on technological advances in liver tumor management during the morning session on #interventionaloncology! Many thanks to Dr. Micaela Arrieta, Dr. Ethel Rivas Zuleta and Dr. Pilar Bayona for your kind invitation! #irad @YaleMed@YaleRadiology@Yale_IR@YaleCancer@YaleIMed@YaleSurgery
Thankful to be featured on the official @ChariteBerlin Instagram page as a young MD/PhD candidate and researcher. I am very grateful for the support of my amazing mentors, Dr. Lynn Savic, @JuliusChapiro@dcmadoff@Yale_IR@YaleRadiology@YaleMed

The @Yale_IR#IOlab graduated yet another class! Off to your amazing adventures. Strong work. Keep working hard! There is no substitute for hard work. It always pays off. Bright future ahead! @ChariteBerlin
Whenever I do a really complex case in a rare pathology and succeed, I walk out thankful for the amazing training I had during residency. I can’t imagine a better place to train than among the giants of @Yale_IR ! This is truly the place to be. I periodically have my mentors return to me in spirit during the case, and whisper words of wisdom to me, in their own voices. Am I the only IR who keeps hearing voices? @SIRspecialists #NotParanoid #Thankful
I would like to recognize and thank @bostonsci @bsc_io @bsc_pi for 8 years of continued support with an instrument grant for Cryoablation, giving us the opportunity to study cryoablation on 2 @NIH funded grants and to publish it in high impact journals like @radiology_rsna and J Hep. This investment meant a lot for us and continues to support our deepening understanding of immunological microenvironments around HCC.
We have 2 more major blockbusters coming out soon from the lab in addition to the Radiology and J Hep papers published in the last 12 months. This NIH RO1 will end with a nice firework of papers. If it ever gets renewed a third time, it will not be for the lack of hard work that the students and post-docs put in. Everyone is working very very hard. This is truly not for the weak. The lab is known for iron clad discipline, long hours, but also lots of fun and passion. @Yale_IR #IOlab is the Top Gun.
@Ahmed_Farhan97 and I are excited to present our scientific poster at the Kidney Cancer Research Summit today in Boston. We evaluated combined transarterial embolization (TAE) with lipiodol staining and CT-guided microwave ablation (MWA) for central renal cell carcinoma (RCC), which are challenging due to heat sink and proximity to the renal collecting system. In 7 patients, this single-session approach achieved 100% technical success, no local recurrences over a mean 16-month follow-up, and stable renal function, with one Clavien-Dindo III complication (excluded calyx requiring nephrostomy). This suggests TAE with lipiodol staining enhances safety and efficacy of MWA for central RCC, warranting further study. #InterventionalRadiology #RenalCancer #MicrowaveAblation #Innovation #KCRS2025

I can’t wait to share this study with the #HCC community. It took us 4 years to collect, 1 year to write, submit and revise with a lot of help from editors and reviewers at @radiology_rsna ! First author Nick Matuschewski and the entire team of co-authors are heroic. Huge kudos also to @zhang_xuchen who is always an amazing partner! This will be great for @YaleRadiology@yalepathology@YaleLiverCancer
Hot off the press in Digestive Disease Interventions! The latest issue is entirely dedicated to interventional radiology approaches in liver transplantation. A special note of thanks to Guest Editor Dr. Sameer Gadani from @ClevelandClinic for leading this effort, and to all the contributors for their valuable work.

Hot off the press in @CVIR_Journal! Our team at @YaleMed evaluated percutaneous #cryoablation for NSCLC recurrence after #SBRT, a challenging clinical scenario with few safe options. In 29 patients (35 sessions), we observed:
- 100% technical success
- Local control: 100% at 6 months, 76% at 1 year
- 93% had COPD, yet only 1 required new or increased oxygen
- Pneumothorax in 44%, hospitalizations in 36%
Our findings highlight cryoablation as a promising, lung-sparing salvage therapy, especially when delivered by a multidisciplinary team. Collaborative care makes a difference for these high-risk lung cancer patients!
