Permanent deacon of the Diocese of Memphis in W. TN, ordained by Bishop J. Terry Steib in 2000. Husband,Father of 4 girls, Preacher, teacher, and real tall guy!
@dena30211@ArchCordileone No… the Pope has the right to do exactly what he did. It isn’t regular, and we might not like it (or may celebrate it), but it’s his right to deprive a bishop of his see. He’s the Pope.
@jcgx4@ArchCordileone@Pontifex Dude. Bishop Strickland is *Bishop* Strickland, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Tyler in TX. What news have you been reading? <smh>
@spinangora @ArchCordileone I’m sure you’ve gotten an earful already. But to your point, Bishop Strickland (who in point of fact is a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church, in good standing, with all the responsibilities, rights and privileges of that office as a bishop emeritus. Hasn’t been excommunicated.
@PillarCatholic you might consider the Diocese of Tyler in TX as a place to move. Plenty of dirt, low cost of living. Decent (better than decent) bishop. Could do worse.
@clericalpod , I took a defensive driving course when a rep for a med. device co. One thing it taught was that most minor collisions happens when backing *out* of a parking space. Taking time to back in makes it safer to pull out. Plus, auto pkng systems on cars back it in.

@clericalpod , you guys discussed a parish-based family ministry to build community. I was in/responsible for a ministry that did that! Love to tell you about it if interested.
@TeodoroDeAquila @JujuButtons @Bishopoftyler That, my friend is the silliest reasoning ever. It’s like asking why I am not white (answer: bc I’m Black). They wouldn’t want them bc they are wrong. But why would I need to say that? It’s almost as much of a waste of characters as the 138 char I used to say it wasn’t smart…
@DeaconGregK Oh, I dunno. Dominicans, mebbe; Jesuits/Paulists seem to be catching up (but still in the early 80s, @least in my area). WOF has a much broader reach; and its theology is consistent. And talk about resources. And I agree that expandig to incl 3rd order would be a great move!
@villagranj @LittleWayAllDay No. Millions (100’s of millions, actually) follow the Church, led by Christ. We all obey those things the Pope and the Magisterium of the Church teach. But nobody “follows the Pope”. If I “follow” anyone, it’s *my* bishop, head of my particular Church. Your ecclesiology is off.
@Morax__PoH @TeodoroDeAquila @JujuButtons @Bishopoftyler You’re mixing denominations. “Reform Protestants” aren’t competing for 144K spots. That’s the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The OP was spot on. And Bishop Strickland is no “traddie” (met him? I have. My kid works for him.) So, your premise is unfounded.
