My Generation Is Blind to the Prosperity Around Us!
I'm sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis (Florida) trying to think of what to write about. I scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of presidential candidates calling for policies to "fix" the so-called injustices of capitalism. I put my phone down and continue to look around.
I see people talking freely, working on their MacBook's, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most prosperous nation and we've become completely blind to it.
Vehicles, food, technology, freedom to associate with whom we choose. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life we don't give them a second thought.
We are so well off here in the United States that our poverty line begins 31 times above the global average. Thirty One Times!!!
Virtually no one in the United States is considered poor by global standards. Yet, in a time where we can order a product off Amazon with one click and have it at our doorstep the next day, we are unappreciative, unsatisfied, and ungrateful. ??
Our unappreciation is evident as the popularity of socialist policies among my generation continues to grow. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation, "An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity."
Never saw American prosperity! Let that sink in.
When I first read that statement, I thought to myself, that was quite literally the most entitled and factually illiterate thing I've ever heard in my 26 years on this earth. Many young people agree with her, which is entirely misguided.
My generation is being indoctrinated by a mainstream narrative to actually believe we have never seen prosperity. I know this first hand, I went to college, let's just say I didn't have the popular opinion, but I digress.
Why then, with all of the overwhelming evidence around us, evidence that I can even see sitting at a coffee shop, do we not view this as prosperity? We have people who are dying to get into our country.
People around the world destitute and truly impoverished. Yet, we have a young generation convinced they've never seen prosperity, and as a result, we elect some politicians who are dead set on taking steps towards abolishing capitalism.
Why? The answer is this,?? my generation has only seen prosperity. We have no contrast. We didn't live in the great depression, or live through two world wars, the Korean War, The Vietnam War or we didn't see the rise and fall of socialism and communism.
We don't know what it's like to live without the internet, without cars, without smartphones. We don't have a lack of prosperity problem. We have an entitlement problem, an ungratefulness problem, and it's spreading like a plague."
Michigan won the national title with a 37-3 record and 29 double-digit wins against the nation’s No. 1 strength of schedule.
Set the all-time record for Big Ten wins (19). First B1G team to go undefeated on the road in 50 years.
One of the best college basketball teams ever.
Michigan basketball:
🟡 5-0 vs. rivals MSU/OSU
🟡 Won B1G by 4 games
🟡 Undefeated on road
🟡 Stomped everyone on way to Final Four
🟡 Destroyed fellow elite 1 seed Arizona
🟡 Beat current CBB dynasty UConn for title
🟡 School record 37 wins
The best team in program history.
Michigan didn’t just win the title… they ran through everyone.
• Beat all 3 Final Four teams
• 6 of 7 Elite Eight teams
• 9 of 15 Sweet Sixteen teams
This is an absurd tournament résumé.
Not saying that Michigan isn’t loaded, and not saying they didn’t spend a fortune on their roster, but it’s amazing that they are THIS dominant with
• A transfer from UAB
• A transfer who UNC fans DID NOT want back who “couldn’t shoot”
• A Non Starter at UCLA
• A Non Starter at Illinois
• 2 Players that played on Michigan’s 8-24 Team
• A guard who shot sub 30% from 3 the last two seasons in the Big 10
• A Freshman
This has been a masterful job by Dusty May and company putting this group together bringing it to life
Shane Lowry has 24 career PGA Tour top 10s. Cam Young has 22. Ludvig has 17.
If Scottie finishes in the top 10 today, it will be his 19th ... in a row.
An amazing Rickey Henderson story (No, not the Olerud one)
While playing for the Padres in 1996, Rickey was the last to board the team bus. As a veteran, he had expected someone to leave him his own row, but there wasn't a full one open.
"No seats for Rickey?," Henderson said, standing in the front of the bus. "Rickey don't get no seat? Ain't nobody got a seat for Rickey?"
"Just tell one of the kids to move," Brad Ausmus said. "You've got tenure."
"Tenure?!" Rickey replied, indignant. "Nah, Rickey got 15 year!"
After everyone stopped laughing, one of the rookies moved, and Rickey happily sat down, proud of his Fifteenyure.
UNBELIEVABLE 🚨
He got an email from EBT telling him he has to work at least (20) hrs a wk if he wants to keep receiving ($740) a month in EBT for his 2 kids
I'm not working for anybody, this is what taxpayers work for, they work for me
Do you feel sorry for him, bc i don't
JSN makes a play, spins the ball, and gets a taunting
Patrick Mahomes makes a play, spins the ball, points to a defender, then flexes and no call
Do better @NFL
Branch was wrong last night, but this definitely was a cheap shot. Should have been a flag for block in the back - maybe personal foul for unnecessary roughness.
