If the child on the left was old enough to pick cotton and the child on the right was old enough to attend Klan rallies, then today's children are old enough to learn about both of these and how they've led us to where we are today.
I cried today. Ok, I’m always crying because I’m a mush, but I truly cried.
Thinking about John Lewis and the resilience he had in his fight for all of us to have a voice. He never stopped.
I am eternally grateful for him and for everyone who stood by him in the struggle.
I don’t accept or embrace the luxury of an artificial privilege that my education has afforded me, and that too many embrace with their apathetic view of society, community and what they think they have achieved.
One that gives them the audacity to facilitate and co-sign the caucacity of those who will never accept them…
Studying history will sometimes DISTURB you.
Studying history will sometimes UPSET you.
Studying history will sometimes make you FURIOUS.
If studying history always makes you feel proud and happy, you probably aren't studying history. #Blackhistorymonth
Happy Birthday to the late Rosa Parks! The civil rights activist who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger.
Before Rosa Parks, there were other women who refused to give up their seats. #BlackHistoryMonth
A THREAD!
Carl Weathers has passed away at the age of 76. There is no Rocky without Apollo Creed and we were lucky that Carl brought him to life. RIP to a legend.
In 1988, Jerome Brown heard plans of a KKK rally taking place in his hometown in Florida.
Brown immediately went, parked next to the Klansmen, & BLASTED music so no one could hear them. He then approached the Klan BY HIMSELF demanding they leave.
They left.

On this day in 1960, four black college students staged a sit-in at a whites-only lunch counter at Woolworth's in Greensboro, NC.
They sparked a national movement across the country. Instructions were simple: sit quietly and wait to be served. #BlackHistoryMonth
