Some other Vibrio species act as cheaters. They use vibrioferrin (public good) produced by cooperators to colonize the host but they do not contribute actively to the disease.
Happy ton share our recent article in PNAS on how cooperation and cheating behaviors orchestrate Vibrio assemblages in the Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome

We show that some Vibrio species act synergistically with the Oshv-1 virus to accelerate disease progression. They are cytotoxic to oyster hemocytes and make the host less hostile for microbial proliferation.

Excellent day of science at #PUCV with Paulina Schmitt, Daniel Oyanedel and their colleagues! Excellent ceviche too! 😄
So happy to he here in Valparaiso 🇨🇱
Ready to take off for Chile 🇨🇱.
Very honored to introduce the #OneHealth concept in #marine#invertebrates 🦪🦐🦀 at Pontifica Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. So happy to meet my long term colleague Dr Paulina Schmitt from
#PUCV@ihpe_lab
@markjmandel and @G_Charriere gave an inspiring talk on the use of InSeq for identifying colonizing factors from Vibrio in both mutualitic and pathogenic interactions with mollusks
Many thanks to @markjmandel and Rafael Da Rosa for joining us at the kim sea & coast international days in Sète. 🌊🐟🐚
And thanks to @IsiteMUSE for supporting such great collaborations with @ihpe_lab members!
Environnement, santé et société sont intimement liés. On en parle dans le 1er épisode de "La fabrique du savoir" avec @serge_morand, @ddestoum et Patrick Mavingui @emfpoitiers @lemondefr https://t.co/2tJwz0G6WN
Many thanks to all the speakers and participants of the Translational #Microbial#Ecology and #OneHealth session at #ISME18, Lausanne. Safe trip back to everyone!
