@EternalLoL@extradeadjcb It’s well known there was a Jewish mafia in the 1920s and 30s, that’s what “Billy Bathgate” was about. Just like the Italian, Black, Irish and Chinese mafias, and the Scotch-Irish mafias before them. Not sure what your point is.
@PhotobombingC@xereeto@Anarseldain Dude you can continue to just say things but it’s pretty clear it’s just word games now. There is no science behind classifying people by race on anything more than trivial physical attributes.
@lastsaskliner@pretentiouswhat@pwrhungry The OP is claiming that China is not electrifying and not using solar. I’m disagreeing, but I’m not clear what you’re doing.
@1upInfinty@mbaram@xwanyex So, the argument that poor people who don’t speak English or share our values will destroy the country is bullshit. We’ve been doing this since 1620!
@Lamoille85@digging4fire@xwanyex People have been saying the same thing since 1750. I look forward to the Haitian- and Somali-Americans of 2080 complaining about who is letting in all the Papauans and Cameroonians who will never assimilate.
@PhotobombingC@xereeto@Anarseldain This division is completely cultural - i.e. you consider all white skinned people in-group and all non-white people out-group, but this has no basis in science. It’s made up.
@PhotobombingC@xereeto@Anarseldain What she is saying, very patiently, is that skin color is very visible but a very minor component of genetic variation - yet you’re making it the major way to divide people. Bantus and Ethiopians are much more genetically different than Celts and Japanese.
@Catholic_YIMBY @xereeto@Anarseldain Great case in point - in the 19th century “Christian” meant Protestant - Irish, Italians, Slavs and Greeks were definitely not included. But today you say “we’ve always been a white Christian nation,” completely erasing those divisions which were very important at the time.
@Ray_BlueThunder@HEADLINES_Etc@Babygravy9 “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”
We are not a biblical state.
@whatsaname25@HEADLINES_Etc@Babygravy9 So waitaminute, what about all those debates about prayer in school? Do school kids also need a permit to pray? And are those prayers still constitutionally protected?
@LovethLogic@TheNot@Cutrer@DionDLion@DAKKADAKKA1 Ironically I don’t think Muslims care if other people eat bacon. In that sense you’re right, it wasn’t the bacon that was intimidating, it was the presence of people trying to prevent them from praying.
@LovethLogic@TheNot@Cutrer@DionDLion@DAKKADAKKA1 You can absolutely hold a protest saying Muslims shouldn’t be allowed to pray in public. You can’t try to prevent specific Muslims from praying in public or harass them. Does that help?
Free speech has always had gray areas, but this one is pretty straightforward
@floridanative03@DionDLion@DAKKADAKKA1 Weird because the same people will tell you that prayer in school (which is not a designated place for prayer) is constitutionally protected. Can you imagine what they would say if Muslims tried to disrupt Christians in this way?
