@eigenhector@xkcd@xkcdComic yeah, it'll be a while before the kiddos get to watch it, @CommonSense are saying 16+, like Blade Runner and 1984. they've got Interstellar and 2001: A Space Odyssey to look forward to in the meantime
@eigenhector they're both great, but Primer is one of my all time favourite films. it's well worth waiting until your second viewing before studying the detailed timeline diagrams, @xkcd jokingly highlights the story complexity in https://t.co/YwSEJzh2I6
🚸 "If the speeds don't drop, the work can't stop"
My City Hall testimony on Clarendon Ave (25mph school zone)
After repaving, speeds increased:
‣ median: +8% (33 mph)
‣ p85: +5% (39mph)
‣ max: 54mph

@rtwlz Fantastic idea Riley, sorry it got cut short
Is there any way you could upload an export of the dataset to Kaggle or the Internet Archive?
I would be very interested to explore the data to see if there are patterns (neighbourhoods or streets targeted / ignored)
I spoke at SF City Hall yesterday about something I care deeply about as a parent: street safety
🚗 48% of cars speed on our block
😡 3 vehicles clocked over 50 mph
🚸 90% of pedestrians hit at 50 mph will die

@maxdubler yeah, I think Buttonwillow outside Bakersfield is the closest to that experience, but not the same grade track. sonoma have a drag strip that’s more accessible but it’s not a racetrack https://t.co/ZqJHuqB1iL
@aloo@Waymo we don’t consume any media with advertisements (soma fm, spotify premium, youtube premium, jellyfin, &c.) so being forced to listen to shane co diamonds and o'reilly auto parts was jarring for my kid and a throwback for me to the time my car only had FM
@aloo@Waymo not being thrown into an uber drivers world is a big factor
I take waymos with my eldest almost exclusively. we had to take an uber a few weeks ago (3min vs 45min wait)
driver was playing FM radio, eldest whispered to me when ads came on “why does he want to listen to this?”
@teej_m everything “IT” or networking. they’re allergic to Wireshark
DNS, UDP vs TCP, ICMP, ethernet frames, VLANs; basically everything ≤ OSI layer 4
I’m still shocked when technical friends think mesh WiFi is a good idea
