Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while other people are not held responsible for what they themselves are doing today?
@SteveSpurrierUF Agreed! So many great calls over the years, but I’ll always love the UK game in 93, I listened on the radio and it was so classic!!! Doering’s got a touchdown!!!
@BenSchaeffer_@Panas_K@benshapiro It’s not a bit lower than most, Florida is #22 for % vaccinated. So a bit past the middle. The explanation is that deaths lag and even reporting of deaths lag. Those charts will backfill as we move forward in time.
@amandaknox@manunderbridge Fortunately we haven’t had a draft in over four decades although young people are draft eligible, our country just hasn’t used it. Instead we have a professional military with people who desire to serve. That’s far better in my opinion
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 I’m pretty sure they are making recommendations aimed at individuals. As in, “you” should wear a mask. Or now “you” don’t need to wear one. I’m vaccinated. My risk is the same as the millions of others who are also vaccinated.
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 If you’re vaccinated you’re vaccinated, it doesn’t change your risk no matter what the % is. Either you’re safe or not.
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 Not a good comparison. It would be more like passing one of those digital speed signs that displays your speed like in a school zone except it tells you you’re going 20 when you’re actually going 15.
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 They specifically list a column for fully vaccinated people and suggest that one needed to be masked in most of those scenarios. A week later they reversed that recommendation.
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 True. But I wish they didn’t lie and mislead the public to accomplish their goal. I get it for the “greater good” but it erodes confidence. And maybe telling the truth is a more difficult message but i think in the end it serves them better.
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 No. The CDC said people who were fully vaccinated had to mask in many different settings. That was only last week. Now they’ve said oh wait, really you don’t need to wear them at all
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 The lie that we still needed to wear masks, social distance etc. even after being fully vaccinated. The CDC even put out a chart and now they admit it’s not true.
@CoreyPainter@GerryDales @Seattle_ish @NateSilver538 The fundamental difference is I believe in freedom and truth. With that there are potential downsides and risks. But when you start getting comfortable with allowing lies to be a part of the messaging, how do you know what to believe? And how do you trust the people in charge?
@TrentHamm @SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 You’re missing the point. I’m only concerned with the lie. If someone could miraculously be safe in a car crash by a force field but the government lied and said seatbelts still were needed I wouldn’t like that.
@SlackerViking @KellenDunk @NateSilver538 That’s a weak comparison. It’s more akin to the government not allowing you anywhere near the lake because someone might shit in it. So you no longer have lake access because of what some idiot might do.
