J.K. Gadzama, SAN was allocated ₦805 million as professional fees from the Zaki-Biam ₦8 billion judgment even after the Court of Appeal had already banned him from the case.
In 2016, the Court of Appeal found him in breach of professional conduct and effectively barred him from acting as counsel after judgment creditors filed affidavits disclaiming him.
Despite that ruling, he continued to interfere in the recovery of the money and later accepted the ₦805 million allocation.
That is the heart of the complaint that led to his suspension by the LPDC.
That brief was meant to be a life changing moment for that lawyer BTW.
800 Million in 2015 was generational wealth. Even today, 800million is a life changing money for any young Lawyer. It'll change the trajectory of any young Lawyer's life.
But look at how messy they have made the whole thing. The judgment of the trial court was delivered on July 5, 2007, yet after 19 years, the Lawyer who struggled, sweated and went through the rigours of the Litigation has not even reaped the fruits of his labour.
He now has to start another journey for the recovery of his Professional Fees from his Learned Senior, as the LPDC has said it has no jurisdiction to make such pronouncement. He may spend another 5 years doing that. 💔 💔
