Happy International Day of the Girl Child 2025!
"THE GIRL I AM, THE CHANGE I LEAD: GIRLS ON THE FRONTLINE OF CRISES"
At the African Schools Outreach Programme (ASOP), we celebrate every girl daring to dream, lead, and make a difference through science, innovation, and education.
✨ Phase 7 begins! ✨
Today, we kicked off the IVVN–ASOP outreach at Apomode Moniya High & Secondary School, Ibadan.
From donning PPE & handling micropipettes👩🔬, to learning about vaccines & careers in science, students were not just attentive, they were excited and inspired!!💡
Scene: Two friends, Grace and Mary, sitting in a cafe.
Grace: (sighs) You know, if only you had studied harder back in university, maybe you would have a shot at those scholarships.
Mary: (smirks) Oh really? So because my CGPA is not a 4.5, my dreams are cancelled?
Grace: Well isn’t that how it works? The good scholarships are for the “first-class” people.
Mary: [laughs] That is what I used to think until I learned about people who got fully funded scholarships with a CGPA way lower than mine.
Grace: Wait, what? How?
Mary: See, it is not just about grades alone. It is about your story, your skills, your achievements, and how you package them. There are strategies.
Grace: Hmmm, so there is still hope for us?
Mary: More than hope! There is a whole webinar coming up that will show you exactly how to win scholarships even with a low CGPA.
Grace: Alright, send me the link. I am not letting my degree score define my future.
Mary: Here you go👉 https://t.co/HeUikjBgWY

What are vaccines and why should young students care?
Our facilitator @Tosin_vsanmi broke this down beautifully. From explaining how vaccines work to showing how they prevent diseases like rabies. Students learned life-saving facts, while many were hearing for the first time.🌍
🎙️“Girls seeing women lead in science changes what they believe is possible.”
At ASOP Akure, we interviewed a rep from the Ministry of Education who shared powerful thoughts on STEM for girls. Full clip coming soon! 👩🏽🔬💡
